Smaller bucks=future giant?

    You won't find this in the wild but in the rarest of instances. I was just using this as an example of how genetics plays a major role in the potential antler growth of a buck.

    I have 2 bucks on my wall that have very similar racks but killed 2 years apart within a few hundred yards of each other. Genetics is a major factor. They are no doubt from the same gene pool. The one was a mature deer 5+ years old but around 120". The other is a 3 year old around 115"

    Some deer 5 years old will be 200+.

    No different than how some people are 6'5" and some are 5'6" as a full grown adult.

    It really isn't even debatable.

    This is the biggest one on camera this year, thinking about naming him "Rear View" since all the pictures i have on him are from the back, only a 130's but hes a monster for me :)

    I've let small ones pass the last years. I've been hunting the same land for years now and I have seen good turn around from it so far. Some good bucks in the area now in camera.
    Be patient. My dad taught me that when I first started hunting and it has helped me tremendously!
