I had a "fuzzless' buck on camera August 26 last year and from what I see this year I was expecting it to be at least a week later this year.
I would say something is wrong with this buck honestly, hes a month ahead of time and look how skinny he is. He may not even make it through the year
I thought this was weird as well, but I saw some elk in Estes Park Colorado that had lost their velvet more than a month ago. They were all spikes... I wonder if that is the difference? Only the immature bulls and bucks lose the velvet that quick?
That deer look malnourished to me. Something has to be wrong with it. If it is, then his body probably shut down the antler production earlier than normal.
malnourished an unhealthy... is it possible that he never shed? I know that some older bucks with a drop in testosterone will not shed, assuming they are healthy enough to make the winter where they live.
