Bummer! I had a deer hit my chevy. Ran right into the side of it, just left a tiny ding and a lot of bloody snot. Lucky for me, not so much for the deer. Had about 200 elk cross in front of me this past winter. Would really bite to hit one of them with my truck and you can probably write me off if I hit one with the prius.
I hit 3 one time in less than a month. Two about 100 yards apart in the same spot. If you ever hit more than one deer before you can get your truck to the shop, don't tell the insurance that you hit more than one. They wanted to charge me a deductible for each deer. Luckily the guy at the shop told them he couldn't tell one from the other so they counted it as one.
After I replaced the right fender, bumper skin, lights and straightened out the hood among a few other things the best I could on Tyler's Dodge Stratus... you can't be talking about dodge cars. :p The buck was dead though. He hit it pretty hard and I was surprised there wasn't more damage. Sorry to hear about your truck Greg. In 37 years of driving, I have only ever had one deer hit me. It ran into the side of my old ford by the rear tire. Wasn't any damage and the deer lived. Tim
Hey now, although I don't agree with his Ford comment because I happen to like both Ford and Dodge, my Dodge has been good to me. All kidding aside, glad you are ok.
I smoked a doe at 55 mph with a newer GMC Serria a few years ago and it really did a number on the front end. That airbag did not deploy either? It caused around $3k in damage.
Wow, that stinks. Glad you're alright. Only deer I've hit was in the city...Of all places. *Knock on wood*
I wasn't talkin about dodge cars or your friends Dodge Stratus. The cars are a piece of Junk. The trucks though are amazing.
Glad you're okay, Greg. Looks like the damage could have been a lot worse to the truck, too. I've had a deer run into my car before, but I've only really hit one deer. If I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it well. A few years ago I was headed to a hunt early one morning. I had the cruise on my F150 set at 60..... plus...... something.... The only warning I had was a sudden glimpse of a doe's head just before I hit. My foot didn't make it to the brake until after the impact. The left side of my bumper was curled back against the tire and the left headlight/blinker set was smashed. The grill assembly was all broken up from the head impact. Fortunately, the radiator didn't sustain any damage. My son-in-law, who was following me, pulled up behind me and we looked at it. I told him that we still had time, so we grabbed our tools and racing against time, we removed the bumper, tossed it in the bed of the truck and then using a cordless drill and zip ties we "sewed" the grill assembly back together and then zip tied the hood latch mechanism to a support bracket. I took a look at it, gave it my blessing and then we jumped in our trucks and headed on out to our hunting spot. Didn't see a single deer in the woods that hunt.
Right now I'm using my Dad's ford truck. Its the wimpiest thing ever. It can tow all but nothing. So we use are suv. We replaced so many parts on our Fords. On our current ford truck, we've replaced the Tie Rod, Exhaust Manifold, Grill, and not to mention the rust all over.
Look kid, this thread is not about you or your preference of truck brand. Unless you have something pertinent to say in this thread, please stop posting. We all know by now what brand you are dreaming of. Good luck when you get your first vehicle.
Almost smoked a deer on my Ninja when I was cooking at about 120mph, Only thing that helped was fast reaction or else I would have been hurting! I heard Dodges were man eaters.......Whenever you see a Dodge on the side of the road, it always has a guy sticking half way out of the hood. Hijack Done..
