I am learning more and more about my trespasser(s). Last time when he put a stand on my property I learned he could not spell. Today, if it is the same guy, I learned he drives a black mid to late 80's Chevy Cavalier and wears about a size 9 boot. If I don't sell this place, by the end of next year I should know his name and address. I caught him trespassing today and when I tried to confront him he took off.
This man has no fear of you, you need to change his opinion of you and your resolve to prevent his abuse of your property. Small treble hooks and wire leader can and will quickly change his opinion of your resolve.
Actually Coop, I wear a 10. You got me on the spelling thing though. Seriously, give me some more info and I will help you out all I can. I HATE trespassers.
W/M 25-30 YO Thin build 5'7" or 5'8" driving mid to late black Cavalier. He went south on 14 and then north on S45. Neighbors don't know who he is either.
Booby trapping your own property can not only get you sued in Iowa, if a trespasser gets injured, you can get criminal charges against you too.
Man thats rough. We found an area where someone was coming in on a 4 wheeler. Asked the cop what I can do and he told me to put some nails in the board and hide it under leaves. I also put a new posted sign and havent had the 4 wheeler anymore...but Just got my first cam pic of a guy walking through. I never seen him before.
Just talked to the neighbors and put a bounty on any trespassers head. Took some explaining and reckoning, but got them to understand that trespassers have no respect for anyone and if they should get hurt while trespassing the land owners could end up getting sued. That brought them around. If they get a license plate # or ID the jerk and it leads to prosecution I pay the reward.
Sounds like a good approach! I've done the same thing at my place with the neighbors for road hunters, which has been a huge problem the last couple years. Also made sure they all have our local wardens number.
That cop is and idiot. He gave you some terrible advice. No skin off his back, but you could be found liable for intentional damages and injury. The trespasser could end up owning everything you have. And, the idiot cop would never admit to telling you that. Guaranteed.
