Neener, neener! Fiber optic is coming to Ely this summer. Up to 100mbps. We're signed up for 50mbps and should have it buy mid July
Do you mean in general or with Sling in particular? If the former, I've hard the Roku 3 since December. It's fantastic. At my current speeds, unless I'm streaming 4k content, I'll be ok. The problem is going to be how long will it take to play catch up once UHD content catches up? It doesn't make sense why so many of you who live in the middle of the country, and to me, in the middle of nowhere have better internet access than we do here in the east. Blows my mind.
Just SlingTv. Otherwise it works flawless. I can stream ESPN on the "Watch ESPN" no problems. Then I'll watch ESPN on Sling and it crashes sometimes. Like I said, my Roku is old and at that time I don't think any live TV was available on Roku. It was all on demand. Couple of things of UHDTV. First, you will still be able to see UHD with your aerial antenna right? So it is not a complete waste. Also, you could always be able to turn the quality down on your settings if you internet can't keep up. Guess you will have to watch in regular HD instead of UHD TV. 1st world countries problems. LOL
Lol, no we definitely do not have OTA HD. If we did, I wouldn't be stuck with 3mbps internet. My brother lives outside of Philly and they have fiber and OTA HD. Only 3 hours away and such a world of difference. My question was more rhetorical as I know I can always watch in SD, which is how I had to stream back when I was on 780kbps internet :D
I turned it on last night. At least when I turned it on it was just another hunting show based in texas with a guy sitting in a box blind over a feeder with 20 deer standing in front of him and then a big buck walks out at last light. He shoots it. Show over. Same old stuff.
FWIW. I ran a speed test today at home. I'm getting around 40 mbps. Seems to be Ok as long as we don't have three devices streaming at the same time.
Good info. The wife and I went down to the bare minimum on our cable package. We don't get ESPN and many other channels. I dont watch much tv but I sure would like to have some more options when something peaks my interest.
Just got an email about a free month through the Xbox one. Went ahead and signed up. Watching some show with Mike Rowe now and it's working great even with a wireless connection. Edit: we haven't had to watch commercials in years. Not sure I like it.
Bumping to get thoughts on this now that it has been out and becoming more popular. Still as happy with it now as then? Slowly been transitioning to dropping directv. Think my contract is up next month so giving it a shot. Really wish Sling had Discovery rather than History 2. A lot of mixed reviews about buffering and such during peak viewing with popular programs. Mainly looking for more HD streaming of live TV. Sports I have got, but premium networks are lacking. Internet speeds aren't a problem, usually 120's DL and 9.x UL
