Anyone have any reviews on these? I’m switching to fixed blade this year due to my shot placements(I always hug too close to the shoulder) just wondering who has used them and how they perform, also interested in the blood trails, kind of nervous about such a small cut for a blood trail. Thanks guys! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
The broad heads are fantastic. I have been using them for six years. I have killed 10 deer with them, all except one died within 100 yards. Bad shot placement led to a one-lung hit and long track job on my buck from this past season. My fault, not the broad heads. Incredibly accurate, I have shot them out to 60 yards hitting the same as field points as long as the bow is properly tuned. Blood trails are great. You will not be disappointed. Like any broad head, hit the deer in the vitals and it will be satisfying results.
You won’t be disappointed. I’ve had more than a couple shoulder hits (not on purpose) and came out in good shape. Of course the rest of your setup will have as much to do with that as the broadhead does. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I've used its smaller brethren the slicktrick standard for several years and my experience is a good hit results in a quick kill. Slicktrick used to use the term 'slugholes" to describe its performance. I think the magnums will do well for you.
They are my favorite. Great blood trails and pass throughs almost everytime. They shoot like field points in a properly tuned bow.
I have been using these the last few years, and have taken 3 deer with them. 60 lb bow, 28.5 draw with 400 gr arrow. Longest shot was 28 yards, closest was 7 yrds; all were pass thru. ( 30 yards is my personal maximum range, so I have no experience with performance at longer distances) I used the same head to take deer #2 and #3. I was fortunate enough to have all deer fall within sight, the furthest went approx. 45 yards. I haven't had to blood trail one (yet), however from what I have seen the blood loss was impressive. I gave one to my hunting buddy; die hard mechanical fan who took a deer with a ST mag and was so impressed with the result he is now a ST convert. These shoot the same as my field points, and I did not experience any tuning issues. For me, I have no reason to try anything else. Good luck with your decision
I have been using them for years. Lots of pass throughs. Great broadhead. You still need to tune your setup but once you do you should have great results. Sent from my E6782 using Tapatalk
I have had better penetration with Viper tricks then magnums. I don’t really like the blade angle on the mags. For thin skinned game like deer I don’t think it matters much however if you love the shoulder you’d be better off with the standards or vipers.
I have both mags and standards...they are about as good as it gets. They put a nice open slug hole in deer.
I love them. In fact I just got a new pack of them yesterday. My buddy gave me one last season and I killed 4 things with great results: 1 coyote, 1 hog, and 2 deer. Only had to track 1 of those animals and the blood trail was great, but I'm sure blood trail will vary by shot placement with no fault to the broadhead.
I haven’t shot the magnum but shoot the standards religiously. Beasts of a broadhead. You won’t be disappointed. Like others have said if you like the shoulder you’ll be better off with the standard or better yet the viper.
