anyone here have it? I was having some real sleep problems, never really bothered me until recently. I knew I was a loud snorer, at deer camp they called my room the lumberjack room...lol. my wife also said I snored incredibly loud, but she's a heavy sleeper and it didn't bother her. sometimes I would wake up soaking wet in sweat, sometimes I would wake up screaming. (thought that could be from PTSD) most mornings I would wake up with a sore throat from snoring. within the last few months I was becoming more and more tired during the day, not being able to stay awake while going for a 45 minute ride to my parents (as a passenger). Also at work, (I drive a truck), I noticed after working for a few hours I would desperately NEED to take a 10-15 minute power nap to recharge. I always thought I was tired due to my work schedule, I work from 2am-11am. I got to bed at 7pm and get up at 1230pm for the past 6 years. but it occurred to me that my body should be used to this routine, and 5 1/2 hours should be enough sleep. A month ago I had a appointment with my doc and told him my concerns...he asked me a bunch of questions and then he immediately sent me for a sleep test. kinda weird being hooked up with that many wires! He told me I stopped breathing 40-50 times an hour on average, and in a 6 hour stretch my body (not opening my eyes)came out of sleep over 300 times. he said I have severe sleep apnea. I went back for a second study hooked up to a cpap machine. took me awhile to find a mask that I was comfy with. didn't sleep that great because I wasn't used to it. however I did notice my body felt energized, I fely like I could go stack a cord of wood before breakfast. I'm getting my cpap machine in the house next week, so hopefuly it will solve my sleep issues. anyone else have it? does the machine work? what can I expect?
My dad has it. Takes his cpap with him wherever he travels. Made a huge difference in his energy. He can't imagine going without it anymore.
I feel like I may have it but have never really had a test done to see. I haven't notice anything recently but in the past Ive had time where I would open my eyes and couldn't move and couldn't catch my breath at all. Its really kind of scary but that hasn't happened in awhile.
I know several people who use CPAPs and it has changed their lives. More energy and just enjoy life more being not as tired all the time.
A buddy of mine just started using a Cpap, he swears he's never felt better in his life. I'm considering getting tested myself, I snore like a beast and I'm usually always tired
Thanks for the responses guys! It's definately giving me a positive outlook moving forward! Tyler and FEB, I highly suggest mentioning your concern to your primary care physician.
My sleep study results said they didn't need the microphone in my room to hear me snore and my apnea episodes (20-30 an hour with some lasting 2.5 minutes. I have had an APAP Machine for 9 years and I sleep great, I sleep all night, and I wake up rested. What a difference!
He he he...sounds like me. Growing up we lived in a split level...my room was upstairs at one end, my sisters sleeping down half a level, thru 2 doors and a couple walls, used complain about my snoring. My wife buys earplugs in bulk...I may be due.
