Anyone here actively pursuing any the archery "Slams"? I know there is a sheep Grand Slam and there is a Deer Slam where you hunt all of the deer species in North America.

The Super Slam is the one that takes the cake though. All 29 big game species in North America. One site estimates that it takes 25 years, on average, and a minimum of $500,000 to do this. Who has the time and resources to attempt this?! Not me, but it'd be fun.

Nope, I'm just pretty happy to slam one buck a year :)

I work with a guy who has a super slam. Took over 20 years I believe. Tough to do and very cool, but it's not for me. That guy is a good hunter.

I am confident I could complete the super slam in my lifetime.. I'm only 22, I've already hunted for 7-8 of the species and have 4 more lined up for next year... I'm just not interested in all of them though. I want the representative slam, but not the full 29. I want to kill an archery sheep, but could care less about all 4 sheep. I wanted an archery caribou, but it doesn't matter to me which of the 5 sub species it was...

The only complete slam I DO want is the deer slam, 5 species in total (will likely be six if/when Columbian Whitetail are added separately)...

I just looked up the representative slam and that seems very cool and way more reasonable than the super. Still would take me the rest of my life though. Would also need to win the Mega-Millions tomorrow to consider it.

I have my own slam I want to complete.

    All P&Y animals.

    Whitetail
    Elk
    Mule Deer
    Moose
    Caribou
    Antelope

Whitetails are already checked off. Black Bear could be added to the list, but I'm losing interest in the idea. I hope to start checking off this list more in September chasing elk if it all comes together.

I never really thought about it in terms of a slam. I just kind of go hunt what I want. I guess trying to make a certain slam puts an animal on my radar that I normally wouldn't be enthused about.
My number one would be a sheep slam....not happening lol.

I think the super 10 and/or the whitetail slam would be fun. At 29, I still have time.

I have confidence I will be able to complete the super 10 in my lifetime. But a sheep slam is my dream.

I believe the thread was in reference to bowhunting's big game slams.

The turkey slam is cool though.

I'm 16, plenty of time to score that super slam :tu: In all seriousness though right now I only have an interest in Whitetail, pronghorn, and elk as far as big game goes. I'll finish that list before I kill any other type of big game.
