This is an 8 point i killed with a gun, but its still my first skull mount. Mounted it myself with a kit i got from Gander Mountain. Oh yeah and i missed this deer with my bow about 2 weeks earlier within 30 yard of where i killed him at. lol

Here are a few of my homejobs:

All were just skinned, boiled in Borax, and spraypainted white after drying.

The last one is really cool... He's got a bullet lodged in his face from a previous hunting season. The wound was fully healed, but obviously, the injury was reflected in his antler development.

I found it when I was boiling the head. I pulled out the copper jacket, cleaned the surrounding bone, and glued it back into its original position. The roof of his mouth is cracked and healed-over, and you can see where a fragment of the bullet exited just above the teeth.

    Tough animals...

I've got a couple more euros that I've done, but I haven't taken pictures of them.

You can see my 3 Euros hanging from skullhooker hangers in these photos...[IMG]

I'll be doing more and more euros as time goes on...it'll prob take an upper 140s before I'll mount another whitetail or else one killed where doing a euro isn't an option due to having to skull cap it out.

Thanks, I did kill the Buck, made the base and did the habitat myself. I kinda left it outside a little to long and the antlers bleached out.

Instead of buying wall pedestals, I just run a piece of wire through the openings in the back of the skull and hang them up on a nail.

They hang nice and flush to the wall, and look pretty decent.

I've done 7 of them like that now.

Painting the skulls is easy after boiling. I sand off the rough spots, then give it a coat of hi-gloss white (to fill in the crevices), then follow that with a light coat of flat white.

I don't even tape off the antlers anymore, I just cover up the bases with my hand and spray away. It takes all of 5 minutes.

    Yes it is, Bloodcrick.

It's been dipped in hardwoods Snow, and, came out awesome. I was hoping that the skull would be predominantly "camo" with only hints of the white(snow). Came out exactly as I wanted it !!

Mine from 2009. I think I will start doing all my buck kills this way in the future. Nothing fancy.
