Who knows. I have spoke to people who spit off stand all day and had success. Hard to say for sure what exact effect it has. It may make them curious.

    I chew, too.

Never done it in the stand - but not sure why it would hurt if you had the wind in your favor.

    Obviously it wouldn't "help" though.

I take a spitter up with me. Tie a loop of string around the neck of a bottle and tie it to something in the tree. Spit and cap it back up!

I chew every time in the stand, nearly 80 % of the time, never has affected my success. I don't bother with a spitter either I just spit on the ground.

Be a man and swallow that spit. It'll put hair on your chest.

Bring a small bottle of gasoline up in the tree with you. Make sure to rinse your mouth out with the gas after you get done dipping.

Deer have no idea what dip is. Just like deer have no idea what piss is, you can wizz right off your stand and they will come and put there nose right in it and just keep walking. You doing Dip has no positive or negetive effect on your success what so ever. But its not a healthy habbit :-)

Never been a problem for me.

I just put my pinch on the left side of my lip so that it doesnt interfere with my anchor points.

I have spit right on the ground under my stand and had deer come through with their nose down, cross right over it and not even flinch. I'm pretty sure they enjoyed it !!

I spit Apple or Peach when hunting.

I have never tried it in the tree but that is the last thing I do before going to my stand and usually the first thing when I return to my vehicle afterwards.

It shouldn't be a problem other than a problem for your health.

Well tonight I had 5 deer come within 13 yards of my stand and as close to feet from my tree, I had been spitting the whole day/night and they came from down wind and no problem. The only problem I encounter was 3 of the deer (does) wouldn't present a good shot only sever quartering away shots and the 2 (bucks) that did where only 2.5 years old

With deer hunting no, not too good for your health (said the pot to the kettle). I've chewed on stand for the past 5 years and never had a problem. Never took a bottle just on the ground. Sometimes the hit on the ground can be loud enough for the deer to look but other than that, the smell does not turn deer away. Quit if you can but for other reasons than spooking deer.
