I was finally going through and organizing all my trail cam pictures from Jan-today, and I came across these two photos. They do a great job of showing the difference in size between a good sized coyote and an average sized wolf.

Wow Fitz! I knew there was a good difference, but that really makes it obvious. Thanks for the pics. Pretty nice of em to both walk right by the same spot for you :)

Thanks! As the wolf population in WI is slowly dispersing farther away from their original release areas I am sure to see more sign where I hunt now so I thank you for sending this comparison. I saw 6 wolves in 2005 during the gun deer hunt in Necedah National Wildlife Refuge in central WI and never returned to hunt that public land for 2 reasons (decreased deer population and more hunters than should legally be allowed to carry rifles in one area!!). I have also seen plenty of wolf sign in the Nicolet National Forest in NE WI.

As you do in MN Fitz, I hope to be fortunate enough to acquire a wolf permit in WI.

This makes understanding the Discovery Channels Urban Predators about the the Eastern Coyotes cross breeding with the Eastern Wolf. With a large population of Eastern Yotes having Eastern Wolves DNA.

That wouldn't be a good prospect to come across in the woods unarmed.

I remember seeing a picture of a wolf and coyote laying beside one another before and the coyote fit inside the wolves legs. It's unreal the difference in their size. I've seen a dead wolf in person and they are enormous. Not many people really realize just how big those dogs are...too bad they are becoming more and more rare in the US.

This is not true. Infact, it's quite the opposite. Wolves are gaining back grounds that they were eradicated from 100 years ago.

Most likely this fall. It's in Legislation right now. If it goes through, I'll try and get a tag.

    Thats a big difference...WOW!!!

I've seen yotes in 50-60lbs range down here and with a full winter coat, they look like a large German shepperd.
