Wish I had some good news. He was right on schedule but changed his route. Came in though and a had a nice calm shot, and as soon as it left I knew I screwed up. Everything felt too good, except I realized I used the wrong pin and it sailed just over his back. It was a great hunt out and got to see a good amount of deer and nice close up view of that guy too

Got another stand hung this weekend... no pics as a raccoon knocked my camera down...

 

If everything works out, I may be able to start hunting next week in Indiana! Deer reduction zone! And the buck for the reduction zone doesn't count toward the one buck limit.

 

Checked my cameras yesterday. One of them stopped working and some idiot forgot to turn the other one on. That would be me.

I checked cams this weekend.. one was knocked down by raccoons... 0 deer pics in 2 weeks... so, not the same, but same result... haha.. that is where I hung the stand where the big 8 is and the nice 7.

 

Nice one wake. I gotta chuckle about the cams not being turned on. I went to check a few the other day and knew batteries would be dead, and wouldn't have been a problem aside from new battery packs were left on my wallet at home. Wasn't good anyway there so oh well. I did check my cam and further confirm what is a plus and minus from my miss. I was pretty certain my big guy was just outta sight/range right after I missed the other. Sure enough was. I'll post some pics if I remember. I have his sheds from last year and had sent a rifle shot clear over him last minutes of rifle season. I have a problem with when I'm super calm for a shot I screw up something like wrong pin or elevation or something simple. If I'm shaking madly and nervous I've probably got everything on. Gonna check the cams maybe tomorrow and see if I dare push things with another hunt. Been working on my cabin project now when I can so kinda helps get some progress and ease the mind. Seeing progress there has been sweet. Hopefully have it ready to add a mount to the wall besides sheds I've got up now

Early good luck to you Western. Looking forward to having more out.
Checked cams today to figure out what to do and see how things went. I guess the next two nights I shoulda persisted. I debated on either push it and sit after that and hope they didn't spook or take the nights to pout and regroup and let things settle. Pouting was the choice. Apparently my number one didn't waste time and was back out the next nights little before dark. Gonna give it another go tonight. I'm guessing if I blow this sit it'll be quiet here for a while, but usually turns that way soon either way.

We'll see how things go. Otherwise gonna give the town hunt a shot maybe weekend or next week sometime.

No luck for tonight. Might have had little footsteps coming upwind from me, but I think the neighbor cutting trees and stuff not far away til ten min til dark sealed the deal it wasn't gonna happen. Plus side I don't think I hurt the spot sitting it so I'll check that cam in a few days and hopefully get another run at it

Season starts this Saturday in Arkansas. I will be at work. Planning to hunt Sunday. Not sure if that will happen. Heard a rumor that I may have to work Sunday too.
