The cold morning today definitely got the feeling going too. Guess it worked to get some action going too. I'll see maybe tomorrow if he stepped in front of a cam but got this guy on hand cam.

Checking cams tomorrow for the town hunt. Gotta say if there's nothing extremely promising there after seeing this guy I might know where I'm sitting. With wind and entrance/exits it's a tough spot to sit without blowing it for a while though. Few more days so gotta figure out a plan soon.

Hung a couple stands and checked the others. I've got a couple more shooters on camera I will upload pics when I check the cards again. I'm getting pumped up! I'm hoping I can get a doe down on opening morning. Talked with the farmer he is supposed to harvest the corn the week of opening day so it should be hot!

ugh... always something, isn't it wake...

I'm hoping to hunt as much as possible this year, but like last, it will be a bit more limited. I have been separated / divorced close to 2 years now and have my 2 daughters (10 & 12) on a 50/50 custody schedule... although I have them quite a bit more than that thankfully. I try to be home w/ them on the nights my new fiancé and I have them, but do sneak out hunting occasionally on these nights. My older daughter plays hockey, so her practice and game schedule is a priority obviously. This past season was my first that I went through this. I hunted a fair amount and took 3 w/ the bow, but nothing impressive. Going on a trip to Western NY this November where I always seem to have good luck.
maybe the deer gods will shine down on me and bring me a shooter in on my limited time at home...

Hope the hand is functional and fast recovery Wake. That looks nasty.
Just got back from checking town cams. Had extremely high hopes, but no bucks and not much for does and fawns for shooting light potential. Much less activity than I expected period. Made the choice easy for opener Saturday. I had to sneak out and check the cam right by where I recorded that one last night. He was out two nights before same time with some does. That stand is in a horrendous spot that i have to basically clear the field to come in, but gonna take the risk and sit it.
I'm hoping to get out as much as I can too. My older son will be 3 in November and younger is 1 1/2. To say the least they tie up my time whether just with them or sick with them. The older is beyond obsessed with deer and especially bucks so my number one goal is to get him one. He shakes he gets so excited seeing them anywhere and to get to get pics with him and one would make my season great. Didn't get one last year but got my two target bucks shed sets and he was a riot with them and always is when he sees them on the wall so he's due for the full buck now.

That's the last time I have someone do mine. I did my son's for a Christmas present and thought it turned out good.

very nice... those are great bucks... I have one at the taxidermist now.. it was one of the bucks I killed back in '15. I had it done by a friend because I wasn't going to mount it... he slaughtered it and it looked like a doe w/ antlers. I figured I'd have it redone so I hope to have back in next couple of months.
I had my velvet buck mounted that year too... as well as a euro on a big 6 pt. So this is my most recent mount:

Sweet mounts and awesome bear. I love the velvet mounts, although now wanting to add any kind this year.
Last two nights was watching that buck again. Two nights ago two ****heads had a flat tire and I went to see why they were parked there. They had their tire changed and we're watching that buck. I told them it was my private land and they implied they crossbow hunt where they please and were interested in that deer. I less than subtly suggested it wasn't allowed or a good idea. Hopefully Saturday works for me and don't have to see them again. One more night then it finally begins again. Good luck to you guys who are starting too. Hope to see a good start

Off to Fenway tonight to catch another Sox game before the season ends.... hanging a stand tomorrow and Sunday.
