OK guys I need some help. I’ve got this guy coming almost every night but normally middle of the night. Last night was the earliest that he has ever come through around 9pm. He then comes back around 430 in the morning the opposite direction. Do you guys think I should hold off on slipping in there until the rut when I may be able to put some scent out or something along those lines? I do not think he is bedding too far away but I cannot move in on him since the adjoining property is posted.

Western. He’s a nice one for sure. Hope you can get a shot.
That’s about how I was having to figure for a lot of my chances I usually blew. How’s the temps looking? Has he been changing pattern at all based on that? If there’s some cold coming up could wait and see if he comes out earlier for that. He should start chasing soon and could try for morning to see if he comes through after a long night going after some ladies, and could be off his game being exhausted then. Had pics of opportunities I shoulda tried like that. Any rubs or scrapes around to keep an eye on and see if maybe he’s around at different times and just doesn’t step on cam til then? That’s a tough call for sure.

My opinion only..... if he’s not showing up until several hours after dark he’s probably bedding further away than you might think. I have the same thing going on at my property right now and I’m staying out. If you can swing getting a cell cam or two, it will help you keep tabs on what’s happening without putting pressure on the place.

Hank - Any luck with your buck getting scored? If not, maybe we can meet up at some point and I can score him so we can get him entered?

Rick, Thanks for the input. I actually do have a cell camera in there. he was there today at 6am. Closest to shooting light I have seen yet.
I think i'm going to try to sneak in there during lunch and put my climber in and just wait until the time is right.

Checked cams today. Finally had a nice buck again. He came by the morning when I got the spike. Only pic though. Otherwise few forks and a little basket.
Have had multiple wolf pics all this summer. Had maybe 50 different pics for 5 cams this pull. Some were a deer rushing away then within 1-4 min wolf coming behind. Had to share this pic. Thought it was pretty cool, or at least as cool as can consider it when don’t want them around.

Got a new property to hunt last week. Two hundred acres on Little Wabash River. It is sweet. I threw up 5 trail cams and I’ve got 12 different bucks in a week. Not a lot of shooters but some great young ones, I know their fathers are out there somewhere. Just waiting on the corn to be cut

Well guys. First nauseating moment of season yesterday. At lunch I threw my climber in where the 10pt mentioned above has been starting to show himself nighly... just not in shooting light. Got out of work and Drove 30 min to a different spot in NY and was running late as it was since my ex screwed up all of my daughter’s after school activities (that is a whole other story). Get out of truck in Ny and no bow. I left it it my rock garden at home next to truck packing up. Ugh!!! So i fly home and grab my bow and go to my closest spot about 15 min away. I get in tree around 5:10pm. There is a giant in there. He was there the night before at 7:05pm. So I had a faint glimmer of hope. Sun sets and there’s about 5/10 min of shooting light left and my phone vibrates Rick James will appreciate this. It’s my cell phone cam from where I put the climber in earlier! My heart sinks. I look at the text and there is the 10pt under my tree during shooting hours!!!! At this point I want to cry, puke, scream, etc.
I’m gonna try to go in there tonight.

That sucks. Sounds like it was doomed from the start. Hopefully since he was in there early and all that he’ll repeat tonight. Good luck on him. Hope at minimum the other problems don’t come up

Bummer Western!! You’ll get him tonight!

I’m heading out to SD tomorrow to do some prep work and move and check some cameras. Weather is looking good next week. I’m getting a little excited!

Hah, that's tough. If he's anything like my big ones they tend to do the same thing 2-3 days in a row then move. Maybe tonight?

God I certainly hope so! It would be nice to get one like him down early on in the season. I only have 1 larger buck on camera this year in all of my spots. Fingers crossed...

I'll be out there again this weekend boys. Weather still above seasonal. Hoping to see some deer. Every sit so far with my daughter we have killed 2 coyotes and 4 racoons. Unfortunately I can't eat any of those lol.

Dawg sorry again about your sister. She is clearly far too young. Wish you and your family all the best.
