I'm heading out in the morning. Wind at 4mph out of the East and 53 at sunrise.

well boys, sorry been busy with fixing cars, houses, cutting trails, setting up camera. I went out this past thur. Heard a buck grunt at 6:30pm and heard him walk away down a ravine next to me. I'm putting up another stand either tomorrow or Monday in that ravine. I did trim some shooting lanes. I saw some new rubs near my stand if its who I think it is, he should be 12 ptr that's been around for a few yrs. I saw him last year as a 10ptr. bummer is I put my camera out 2 weeks ago but didn't realize that I pushed the button down to far to "test" mode instead of camera. Man that just pissed me off something fierce. Sux to get old and can't read the damn letters anymore without glasses. This time I made sure I was right. gonna set up some mock scrapes this week.
Just an update; I hunt to private land parcels. 1 is 80 acres to myself and the other is 400 acres I bowhunt by myself. the 400 acres I have no cameras set but I'm off this week and will do a little scouting. The other bummer is warmer weather coming into wisconsin, supposed to be in the 80s. Opening weekend was in the 90s and I ain't hunting that.

is Dawg007 the same Dawg as in eatin Dawg bites at the gtg?

RickJames! how goes it brother? what ever happened with the fishing lure biz?

Only one of my regulars showed up. Question: Would you shoot this ODD buck or let him go to see what he does next year. I really like the ODD ones. LOL

Western I haven't done any pics or anything on here so I'm no help. Think there a few on other teams we could run an idea by and possibly have them do something up quick.
Dawg for me personally I'd take him over one that was symmetrical unless a substantial step up. I'm more for odd looks and character for sure. Nothing against size but just personally like uniqueness

Took my 7 year old daughter with me on her very first hunt. Just found a spot on the ground to put down some stools and make a natural blind. Literally as I'm putting my gear back in the pack at end of hunt. Coyote runs right up to us. About 10' away. Took a rage right in the face. My daughter was so excited couldn't wait to get home and tell Mom. When it comes to coyotes. I throw all my hunting ethics out the window. I honestly don't care. Around here they are so bad. So no deer yet. But one less deer killer.

Could be mistaken but I believe I saw Matt (Rick James) on Instagram with a deer.

Dawg, I'd shoot that "odd" buck all day long and wouldn't think twice. Very cool... who cares about the score.
Chago, sounds awesome.. that had to be a thrill!
NY opened yesterday. I went out in AM and was surprised to see no deer. Lots of activity on camera. I did, however, have a small bear come in last light. It wouldn't leave, so I climbed down and ran at it to scare it off.. it was only about 20 yards from me. I hate those things... like rats out here.

Lena's buck weighed in at 182lb! Much heavier than I had thought. He came in right from where I had expected. She did it all herself. She was in a 16' ladder and I was in a lock on above and to the side. The deer read the script... came right in and gave her a 30 yard shot.. she hammered him. It only went about 50 yards before piling up. I couldn't be more proud. I actually got a little choked up.

Shot a doe yesterday morning, trailed her 150 yds, decided to back out, came back a couple hours later, tracked another 150 yds, then lost blood completely. Grid searched for about 3 hours, nothing. Got a call this morning that another guy who hunts the property found her last night walking out of the woods, she had made a 90 degree turn and by the time he found her the coyotes had most of her gone, he just saw my arrow sticking out.

Well I guess the cats out of the bag, I shot a pretty good one last night for our opener in Illinois. Been busy all day getting him to the taxidermist out of this heat and just leaving the BHOD office now. I’ll post a picture shortly.
