With just a little more than 24 hours remaining before the season opener, I pull in the driveway and see 7 deer in my yard. All does and fawns but maybe a sign of things to come.

Good luck for opener rb. I made it out a few times with does and fawns so far. Hopefully bucks make it around soon

    So, I need your imput...
My NY spot has a couple of nice bucks... by NY standards :) 100" 8 points... which is a pretty good buck for this area.
There are deer under my stand every am between 4am -6am. They are there every afternoon / early evening as well. My buddy keeps telling me not to worry about spooking them out in the AM and that he hunts nearby and it never seems to phase them. My gut is telling me to stay out opening AM and slip in early afternoon. Thoughts?

Western id go for the afternoon hunt. I'm a little extra paranoid side of wanting to not pressure more than possible, probably just cause of how my layout is. If they're there in afternoon and you can beat them out there it could save on any extra spooking or potential, and get a nice calm shot. I can't even try hunting mornings here cause I'd scare anything getting out of my house to try. Good luck with them whatever you choose, besides the rare big ones that surprise here those are nice bucks and I'd love to get one

Thanks Turro. That's what I was thinking... I'll check the cam again tomorrow for the last time before sitting next Sunday. Hopefully they are both still around... I am far from a trophy hunter... however, I will pass on the 2 small guys and wait for one of the 8s in this spot... they are there frequently... and one is pretty much like clockwork.
    Fingers crossed

Went out this morning, it was hot! 72 at 5:30. Saw 6, 2 does and 4 fawns. I wasn't going to lose much needed sleep by shooting a doe especially this early and with the heat. Going tomorrow evening.

Good luck out there boys. I still got another week to wait. I'm hoping for some change in weather though. No way I can hunt when the weather is in the 90s. We had a very strange summer. Cold and rainy all summer which is very unsual for this part of Canada. But now all of a sudden in late September it's been dry and 90+ for the last 2 weeks. And this week it's finally going to slowly start cooling off.

Dawg hope he sticks around for a shot.
Western good luck for tonight. I agree about the trophy hunting or not. If I feel I've got a good to solid chance at something big I can hold back some, but it's definitely up to confidence in getting something. I've blown all my chances at nice ones and kinda regretted passing on some others. This year is looking so low I'll take a poke at any buck and lone doe for now, and be be anything before too long. Definitely haven't had the years and experiences to get very picky yet.
Good luck rb. It's gonna be 80 here today so know what you mean about heat. Not fun for sits and doesn't seem to help getting much action.
I've had a crappy cough and cold last few days so haven't done anything. Hopefully next few days clear up and check cams and get out again. This has been pretty expected getting sick to waste season time. Haven't seen anything but usual does and fawns from the house so don't think I've missed much at least

Setting in my stand wondering if I have lost my mind. It's 89 degrees but thank God for the breeze or I couldn't handle it.

Well guys think I may get out tonight. The weathers cooled down a bit should keep the skeeters at bay. Have a few pics to share not a whole lot to get excited about.....

Finally got out again. Deer were up and around. No big ones. Swing and a miss, and everything busted out on my way in since that stand isn't good to exit. Hopefully it settles since rain and schedule might not get out for a while again
