Going Sunday afternoon. Our "major" cold front looks like it is going to fizzle out. Now they are forecasting less than an inch of snow.

I did not get out tonight since daughter is running late from work. I will be out bright and early for a good hunt in the AM.

On the plus side of things I was honored at work with making the Correctional Officer of the Month. Here is what they read at roll call and the coin that I designed for the Riot at Pontiac Correctional Center back from 1978:

Missed the biggest buck I have ever laid eyes on this afternoon. Came In down wind. Snuck up on me. Spooked and I just plain whiffed. I’m sick. Wanna cry. Feel like calling it a season. Ugh

Keep at it Western! I lost a doe the other day and I know it is not the big boy. I have been in those shoes before so I know how you feel. I missed a buck then the next year I got him and was a dandy.

The other issue I have is the guy who owns the property that butts up to one side is acting like he is the Deer Police. He asked me how many more does that I was going to kill since I have killed two and then he said that three have been taken out of that stretch of creek and that is enough. I will kill what I want to provide for my family so I don't know where this guy comes off at trying to tell me what to kill and what not to kill.

Dawg- congratulations! that's awesome to be recognized for your service and dedication.

Wake- glad to hear there are still bucks moving and hot does to be bred. Gives me hope for heading out this week.

Western- sorry to hear that. I've been there and still replay the videos in my head 2 really nice bucks that I missed. Happens to all of us and I know that is no consolation. Better off not educating him on your stand. Hope you get another crack at him.

Well some bad news on my end that puts a little pressure on me. I came late Thur night and found some fluid under the inside of my truck's front passenger tire, brake fluid. I hope it's just a leaking caliper and not a line break. I will hopefully get to fixing it Sat. but what a bummer when I got things to do like move a stand Sat. I'll try to hit it Monday.

does anyone have anything on camera of what time the deer are moving? are they still out in that rut 10a-1pm phase still? I've been out late afternoon and have seen zero deer. have they gone nocturnal. I'll try to hunt another set of woods on the other side of the property and maybe lay out some scent???

good luck to everyone else. keep plugging at it. we are not far off from taking it again this year. RJ- get that big boy you posted pics of earlier!!

I was going to flop tonight but forgot my cards at home. I have not seen one deer all day. I hope my cameras have so I know where to sit in the morning. That is if I come back out with cards. I think I am in the wrong stand and need to move. I might sit in the other stand in AM.

Bucks are still moving here. We’ve been seeing shooters up on their feet at all times, but mainly in the food. I shot a doe this morning, felt great to release an arrow. Back after it tomorrow.

So much for the great 2018 blizzard. On the plus side, the wind is perfect and I'm in the stand so there's always a chance.[IMG]

Old fighter. He might gross 130 if I’m lucky. He has two broken tines. He lost a lot of mass this year around the bases but it is still present along the main beam, probably would have scored 140” last year.
