Did some public land scouting with my son over the weekend. Ran across a bear bait. I'm guessing anyway. Baiting on National Forest Land is not allowed. We did report it to the game warden. That crap really makes me mad.[IMG]

That sucks. Is it just the National Forrest Land that you can’t or is it public land in general? Always curious how other states do it. We have to have our baits marked with a sign and registered online with DNR

Corn on a cob, nice cuts of meat..... You might want to report missing persons report. I think the bear already ate. The people .... Lol

Canada is easy for rules. We are allowed to bait deer, moose and bears. I personally though have never shot a decent buck over bait. And it's not from lack of effort. Big bucks don't eat at bait up here unless it's dark. Which we have to stop hunting 30 minutes after sunset. I have taken does over bait though.

Bears it's open season. We have so many they don't care. We fill up 3 or 4 50 gallon drums and then two weeks later hunt over the barrels. You will get a bear for sure as long as you are not picky on size. We don't need to register or anything. But you must realize up here we have communities where kids in school not only have fire drills. They have bear drills. For what to do when a bear is in the school yard during recess. It's quite bad up here. So our rules to shoot them are very loose. The only rule we have is you can't bait within 400m (about 450 yards) from a house. For obvious reasons.

Definitely sounds reasonable. Hope to someday get up that way for a hunt on them. Would be a challenge without bait around here.

Got a good one this morning. I had video and a ton of pics of this buck last year. He went from split G2 to double split G3s

Great buck Wake! Seeing a lot of pics of bucks out of velvet already too.
Just a bit over 2 weeks before NY opens. I have the youth hunt Sept 29. NY opens Oct 1 and MA opens Oct 15. I have to change out a stand this weekend and work on a better youth hunt spot since they only get the 1 day. They get an either or tag.
NY cam only has a couple Fergie bucks and a few does running around. I plan on filling my tags asap over there so I can concentrate on the bigger deer I did have on cam in MA later. We shall see.

Season opens for me Saturday. Gonna check cams for plan tomorrow probably. Had pics of a nice one or two so hoping they’re keeping on a pattern to give a shot. Pending cams I’ll set standards for holding back or taking shots. Looking forward to getting out

I am ready to roll and I am not going back in until I can have my bow in my hand. That will be October 6th. We open on the first but can not get out until the 6th.

No luck last night. Was pouring so I snuck out of stand early unnoticed. Turned out good choice seeing half hour later the one I was after take a different route through anyway and a spike went through where I was. Clear weather today so will be out again.
As a side positive and negative note kinda feels good I probably will need to get all new hunting clothes. Last year piled up a bunch from some sales, which this year now im 60# down from so don’t really fit too good. Still shooting for maybe 30 more so should all be pretty far off by then. Great feeling not maxing out clothes, still sucks needing to restock after getting a bunch of good stuff, but best way to do it

Good luck to all you fellas lucky enough to be out already! I still have 2 more weeks here in NEPA. I'm after what was dandy 9 point last year, I'm guessing was 3.5.. he hasn't shown up yet, but he didn't show up last year until October 20th. And I have his sheds so I know he wasn't killed by a hunter.
However tgis nice guy showed up recently, and he's gonna keep me occupied until mister big shows up IMG_20180915_192954_105.jpeg IMG_20180915_192954_110.jpeg IMG_20180915_192954_109.jpeg

Here's the 9 from last year, and one of his sheds. My shed hunting partner has the other side..

    What Do you guys think, 3.5? Screenshot_20180916-082648.jpeg Screenshot_20180916-082727.jpeg Screenshot_20180916-082657.jpeg 20180916_082827.jpeg

Well, Indawoods came into my home town for a car show so I had to go support our teammate in showing his car. It was a good time and even treated him to lunch! Thank for the chat buddy and now it is time to get busy with deer season! Here are some pictures of a Trans that I really liked then Indawoods and I with his Judge!
