Just wondering if anyone sits in their stand before bow opener to see what is coming through. I don't have a trail cam and it deff. is not in the budget with the new bow setup.

i never sit a stand before the opener. i try to stay totally clear of that area til i'm hunting it for 2 reasons. 1 so i don't leave my scent, or make a noise, movement... anything that will tip my location off. 2 never liked being out in my stands early because if i would see the biggest buck ever i'd regret being unable to shoot it, and i would always wonder if i had just waited....... :)
i'm sure there are guys that do it but not me

I've sat the far end of my food plot before. Mainly because with the right wind I can get in and out easy and undetected. I don't make it a habit. I likely won't this year unless the perfect op presents itself.

Definitely not for me, if I can't glass it... it'll be a mystery until the opener. Your best chance is always the first chance.

Exactly. It's not even getting winded WHILE you're there; it's the evidence you leave behind as far as entry and exit trails to your spot long after you're gone.

No way I'm going in unless I've got a bow in hand ready to shoot...

never even heard of anyone that did. 1 of my trail cams i have that's 2 years old is a $50 wildveiw from wall-mart. it does the job if you can squeeze that in your budget pre season.

no since of blowing your chances way too early and then come season wondering why your not seeing any deer especially mature bucks and does. It's just as important not to corrupt the mature does on your land than the bucks. Come season if you don't have the does around the bucks most likely won't be around either!

Yeah this is not a good idea. Sure it may be fun and allow you to snap some good photographs but if hunting and killing a deer a is your goal your best off not doing it.
