The Sitka pants are still unavailable from them and they told me mid-September. Couldn't wait, so I ordered from Cabelas using Cabelas bucks (same discount), should be here soon...I hope:D

Looking into buying some Kryptek Highlander gear.

Is it just merino wool for base layer that we should be doing? or merino wool in every layer including the outer layer?

anyone? It seems like sitka integrates some other fabrics while kryptek uses mostly polyester. Im just thinking about buying sitka for hunting and buying a jacket in Kryptek Highlander to just wear around town.

Some of sitka is spandex like so it will stretch with your movement.

Polyester lycra blend I believe it is called.

I went with the Forest pattern. Just got word the Stratus pants will be available next week. Have the ESW pants here in case by they don't make it here in time for the season.

I'm waiting for more ESW pants to be available, none in my size right now but that 40% discount is sweet!

You have to be military or LEO to qualify.

    Sitka

You can't go wrong with Sitka gear. I use both the Forest and the Open Country patterns for whitetail hunting in Virginia (probably almost identical to the Maryland hunting mentioned about, and very similar to the habitats you'd see in Missouri). The Forest pattern is meant for treestand hunting and very close engagement ranges - typical of what a bowhunter deals with. The Open Country works fine for this type of thing too, in my experience. I use the OC pattern about 30-40% of the time, mainly for still-hunting/stalking/tracking when I have the chance to do that (snow or wet ground), but i've used it in a treestand with awesome results as well: dear bedding down under me, actively breeding within bow range, etc.

The quality is the best available. The design is top-notch.

And for the guy asking about Merino for the winter military exercises: yes, your wife would love having the Merino layers as her base layers. Maybe consider the Traverse pieces to go over the Merino.

As I write this I believe the Merino is available in the camo patterns at sitkagear.com.

    Good luck,
    G Dalton
