haha I think I remember reading your post and going, whatever. Now that ive narrowed down to Sitka, should I buy an outfit for each temperature range? Ill be in missouri for 9 months then most likely maryland thereafter.

That is correct, I wouldn't consider what he is doing abuse by any means. Abuse would be like buying it and then reselling, that'll cause us to lose sponsorships.

I'd never think about that. Getting Sitka for 40% off is enough.

That's your call on when to buy but I would recommend the forest or whitetail line for those locations.

The new line will not be released until july so even if you wait, you'll still I get the 2013 line, unless you wait untill july.

If you wait, you might have trouble getting what you want. Might be back ordered until july.

I ran into this. I ordered in march. I am still waiting on 1 item that sitka wasn't happy with from their supplier and they returned the whole shipment

    I suggest you order now:)

Bibs are pretty much pants that continue up and cover your lower chest and back and use suspenders to hold them up. They're better than regular pants at keeping you warm because they contain heat better than just pants and a jacket. They specifically cover your kidneys. Keeping your kidneys warm means your body will stay warmer since your blood gets filtered through them.

I'm waiting on the same thing Tfox is I believe, so I agree, order now. From what I've been told, the Forest line is cut a little less form fitting than the Open Country is. If you like a more form fitting feel, the Open Country might be better, but I think hunting in the East from a treestand regularly, the Forest line isn't a bad choice.

I have a large assortment of Sitka; base layers, insulating layers, hats, gloves, shells and rain gear.

If I can help anyone out with any questions before you order let me know.

I have the open forest base layer tops but all the bottoms are charcoal.

    Merino, core and traverse

I wore the traverse during turkey season and I got hot and saturated with swear walking back. It took about 5 minutes for the shirt to be completely dry after I stopped. I was amazed to say the least.

I was thinking I would wear underarmour for on the skin as I love UA and it may be slightly cheaper. But for those jackets and pants I was going to wear Sitka. Forest optifade to start, then if I ever get into duck hunting move into acquiring open country.

Actually, though I can't do a 1:1 comparison, like someone stated before, this sitka gear is cheaper than UA with the discount isn't it? I do get 15% off UA but I think that may just make it equal in price.

I love looking at all the latest tech in clothes for hunting. In the end my humble pocket book always takes me back to the army surplus store for some new cammies and poncho liner. I always have merino layered in somewhere when it gets cold. Being an old school hunting guide from Colorado , I have never jumped on the scent lok band wagon. I was always messing around with horses and hanging out in the cook tent( which smelled like stale bodies and bacon). I payed extra heed to keep the wind in my favor when stalking and when I was being a bird dog for a hunter , the smellier and noisier I was the better!

So my wife is in the military and will be doing training in cold weather. Wondering what you guys think bout having her using Sitka base layer as a base layer? Think that will do the job? Of course nothing more as it would be seen on the outside of the uniform.
