Awesome hunt! Congrats on the success, and the fact that your camera looks to be returning to somewhat normal.:tu:

Congrats! Great pics. It looks like beautiful country up there and would like to make it there eventually for some Sitka action.

Thanks guys. I took out the extra damage insurance on the camera so I'll get it replaced at Best Buys when I get up to Anchorage next weekend. Next time I go on an extended remote trip like that I'm packing a spare.

Very nice Rob! I'm hoping to make that trip within the next few years with Johnny.

Be sure to keep in touch on that one. The deer populations shift a lot and one bad winter could mean the difference between flying to one end or the other of the island for the best hunting.

I have heard this from a quite a few different places. Already planned on asking you some questions when we decide to make the trip. The help would be greatly appreciated!

Pentax WP Series, Small enough to carry in your shirt pocket if you want, I pack mine in a small foam case around my neck. Great Waterproof Camara for under 200.00.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us Ron.

There were still plenty of deer, especially does but the quality of bucks was down and they were harder to find than last year. Others have used our camp from last year and it may just be getting shot out around camp from what we experienced last year. I hear Mudd's are guiding out of the airstrip and guys are having to go 5 miles from there to get into good hunting like you guys did last year. Too much pressure getting put on it now, we'll see how long it lasts.

I've got an Olympus similar to that that will be my spare. I like the Canon SX120IS as the primary though for it's zoom and flash, and the fact that it takes AA batteries which is essential on a long, remote trip without chargers available.

I'll try to keep track of the reindeer herd for you as well Will but 2 years is a long time, we might have to do it after Aus. next year!! Thanks for that teaser thread I saw last night! :D

All right, I've procrastinated long enough... time to start vacuum sealing this deer and getting it in the freezer.

Sheeze.....I don't know Rob, I want Argentina and Oz next year. Those two will darn near use up every bit of my vacation time. I was thinking Wales in the Fall of 2012, but I'm game for reindeer/blacktail.

I have a camera somewhere on the bottom of a cove around Afognak Island. It fell from my pocket while I was attempting to board a zodiak. It totally sucked since it happened near the end of the trip. All my deer pics, etc. were on the camera. I managed one spike deer photo ( I shot it for our captian...boat meat) out of the four deer I shot.

Congrats on a great hunt and thanks for sharing.

I am glad you took the insurance on the camera.

Once while elk hunting and stopping to take a rest near a cliff, I laid a fairly expensive camera and lens that was in a carrying case still on the ground. Unfortunately, the case was more round than square or rectangle and once it got rolling there was no stopping it.
