In recent years I was on my feet about 70% of the time, now I stand nearly the whole time while in the stand, especially during the rut so I am ready for anything to come running in. Last fall during the rut I got caught slacking, It was a cold drizzling day. I was set up in a small island of woods on a decent size hay/alfalfa field that does hit every night like clock work. I had just sat down and due to the rain the surrounding grass was wet. 3 does had come out and maybe 5 minutes afterwords I heard something to my right, checked over my shoulder and nothing, then to my left I hear a splash in a small area that holds water after decent rain. I glance over and a 140-150 class buck is running by, I pull out my grunt hit it a couple times and by then it was to late as he already had is eye on the prize. I hit that puddle with the range finder and he ran about 23 yards from my stand. Who knows maybe I would have been more prepared had I been standing, and from now on I don't take my chances.
Well, using a remote for your TV may be easier, but I've practiced getting off my arse and changing channels with the TV controls, as well- just incase I cant find my remote...Ya know ??
