is siting or standing the best to shoot with a bow i think it wood be standing but i dont no what do all u guys say
It's which ever you feel the most comfortable doing. Practice both.....be proficient at both because you never know how you may be caught at a very quick moment. Me personally, I stand immediately upon seeing a deer in close enough or coming. Standing gives me more of an advantage for turning around etc... But I'm comfortable shooting either way. ( edit: Standing does give you a more solid base).
I rarely sit while on stand, maybe for a few to rest but not for long. I always stand to shoot, but, I do practice all ways of shooting.... standing, sitting, one knee, two knees or even laying down! Good fun!
I'm like Rob in that I generally immediately stand if I see deer movement. I'm capable of shooting while sitting down, but I feel much more confident in my ability to make a good shot if I'm standing. As he mentioned, you're also much more flexible in the shots you're about to take because you can still move a little while standing.
I prefer to stand. But sometimes the situation doesn't give ya a choice. I practice from both positions, mostly because I like to hunt from the ground also.
i like to stand when i shoot, but I practice a little sitting so I'm not totally blind sided if it should happen... which with my record of falling asleep during a morning sit it is a distinct possibility... side bar - is there ANYTHING finer than snoozing comfortably in the stand when the sun starts warmin you up... i mean its just sooooo peaceful and beautiful... i'm so looking forward to my first stand snooze this year...
I prefer to sit if I am on stand. Less movement. If I have to stand I will. I hunt off the ground alot too so I often shoot off of one knee.
I shot my buck last year while sitting. First bow kill ever so my legs were pretty shaky!! With all my nerves I felt like I would be more stable sitting down, so I did.
I shoot while standing, I'm more comfortable with it. I will sit until I see deer then I will ease up.
shot em both ways and like Rob mentioned just need to be prepared for both - standing gives you the ability to shift positions - sitting is for the suprises that happens quick
95% of the animals I have killed have been from a sitting position. The only time I stand is to stretch out now and then or if a shot forces me to.
I will stand when possible. It gives one more versatility in their potential shot angle. That being said, I have shot a couple of deer while seated. I was caught and couldn't move.
I hunt more still when I'm sitting. Head leaning back and eyes closed. I generally sit however, like other posts...in my LW it is not the most comfortable. My father is the polar opposite. He will stand the entire time and sit for just a couple minutes to rest his legs.
I stand probably 90 percent of the time. I only sit to take a little rest. I usually just rest against my bar in the Summit Goliath.
I hunt out of a Tree Saddle alot so standing/sitting isn't an issue. But when I'm in a hang-on, I used to sit almost all the time and itt cost me a shot at a nice one last year so I plan to stand more this season. I
Although I practice shooting from all positions, I prefer to stand while in a tree stand. I have shot all of my deer (40+) from the standing position. Funny thing is........ the only time I stand up is usually when I think I'm going to shoot. The only thing I've ever shot while sitting was a turkey out of my Double Bull.
I stand about 98% of the time on stand. I've only ever shot from the standing position. I'll sit if my back gets a little stiff or sore.
I'll often log 8 or more hours on stand at once, so a lot of that is in a sitting position. The only reason I've ever shot anything sitting in a stand is that they blind sided me and I couldn't get to a standing position undetected. I stand as soon as possible whenever possible so that I have the ability to shoot a much bigger area with a broader range of motion.
I practice both ways. And laying on my back and drawing and sitting up and shooting, and off angle. the more ways you know you are proficient, the more comfortable you will be at the moment of truth!! That said, I think standing is the most natural and comfortable.
