Anyone ever have sinus surgery done?

Met with my ENT doc yesterday as a follow up after a month of antibiotics and daily neti pot use. Did the CT scan and his recommendation is that we do a turbinate reduction surgery on my right side and correct my deviated septum.

Anyone done this before? Doc is suggesting we do it in the next two months, and that I should plan to not fly for 3-4 weeks after. I’m curious if I should try and do it before hunting season or after. I’m not sure how long I should expect to be down after the surgery.

    Thoughts?

I have heard commercials where they are fixing that without surgery. They inflate a bag to open it up.

This is also most likely in my future, but there is no way I would do it anywhere near hunting season. That's just my thoughts. I guess if you are having serious issues, that may be worth it....

They want to do that too for a separate area further back. But he feels the turbinates and sceptum are too messed up for what they call balloon rhinoplasty.

Son had it done...it kind messed him up for a few weeks. That said , getting him to do what he was told to do by surgeon was near impossible.

per my father and a couple other guys I know that had it, it's 2-3 weeks of hellish recovery followed by a lifetime of relief.
Sort of like tonsillectomy as an adult.

Oh, and you're going to have disgusting halitosis during that recovery.

Justin said he has it now :whip:

My dad and sister had it done… they had a rough couple of weeks

They wanted to do it to me but I said “Hell naw” It is one of the most unnecessary surgeries out there for many so make sure you truly need it…

I had it, wasn't to bad. Couple of weeks being uncomfortable. It really helped me in the end though.

Been reading a book called, Breath, the New Science of a Lost Art. Has some very compelling information as to why primarily breathing through your nose is so important.

One of the ENT’s I work with tells his patients that they are going to be mad at him for a week afterwards but after that your going to love me.

It certainly looks like it could produce significant relief. I enjoy seeing the fungus and crap drain out of the sinuses once they are opened.

Good luck whatever you decide, I would do it after the season.

This morning I think I decided that I am sick and tired of waking up with desert mouth, I have one nostril that operates at about 50%.

Been reading a lot about this and how that lends itself to high blood pressure and host of other correctable issues. Good luck on getting it fixed.

1/2" drill bit on the cordless should fix it right?

Yes. Add 3 shots of whiskey 30min prior and a priest to read you your last rights and I think that is a solid plan.

Whiskey yes, then jam a styptic pencil up your nose to stop the bleeding.

The drill bit is an improvement over the pioneers method of hammering a nail up there so I think your plan will work.
