It is my favorite. I've got a Kimber ultra carry 11
It's a sweet shooter, just too big for my comfort.

I did a few mods to it as suggested over at Kahr forums before I ever shot it. It has never jammed on me.

settled on Alien Gear for a IWB holster....patiently waiting now, as they are slammed with orders and backlogged sadly.

WOW... saw a Shield 40S&W in the BX today for the first time (with the Crismon Trace Laserguard on it). Seriously thinking of trading in my FNP 40S&W for one when I get home. What a beauty.

I've seen the shield for sale online a few times for as low as $320, pretty damn good deal. I have one in 9mm, great little gun, easy to conceal. Never shot the 40 but I've heard it's a bit harsh?
One site has the FN compact for $399 with 3 mags, really tempting just to try one.

The Shield is a great little gun, just not preferred personally when side by side with the Bersa I got. The Shield in .40 I strongly don't like, thing barks like a freaking pissed of salvage yard dog. Some people love it though, to each their own.

I went through the same thing recently. My first handgun was a Gen 3 Glock 19. I didnt like carrying it IWB so I bought the Sig P238. That ended up becoming my dominant carry gun. In the meantime I traded my 19 for a Sig 1911. That's a sweet piece but I should have never traded the Glock. In the winter of 2013 I decided I wanted a 9mm so it would be cheaper at the range. I came across a Sig SP2022 and scooped that up cheap. I HATED the DA/SA. I then sold that and the P238 and bought the M&P Shiel 9mm and a Gen 4 Glock 19. Now my assortment is complete...for now. I wanna get a Kel-Tec PF9 just to keep in the truck.

Well, just an update. About 600-700 rounds through the thing now. Probably about 100 rounds of defensive rounds through it.

    NO issues at all yet.

Promised I'd keep updating...just bought another one for an absolute steal of a price (used this time). New one got shot 100 rounds without cleaning it or anything and never had an issue.

The original one has now seen probably near or at 1000 and has gained my full confidence, and due to smaller profile and weight gets carried more than my Glock 19 most days..as the Glock is delegated to home defense primary.

Anyone have experience with the Springfield EMP in 9mm? Looking to replace my XD-M 3.8 as a CC weapon.

Well me and some fellow range staff put another 300-500 rounds through the thing in the last month. Not one person yet that has shot it isn't impressed with the trigger. No other small frame single stock option out there has a better overall trigger.

    5/24/2016 Update:

This gone is now a trusty carry gun still not facing any kind of ftf or fte with any carry rounds and only one I can remember during the initial start up days. The trigger is seriously selling this gun to people asking to test it out themselves. I am thinking about stipling or Talon gripping it some as it is just a touch too slick some on the grip side of things...other than that though, I have ZERO complaints truly for it.

How do you like the alien gear holster? I was thinking about ordering one tonight.

So I just made some changes as well. I had a .40 Shield and like you said in an earlier post, that thing barked like a scrap yard dog. The first shot was money, but after that, well there just isn't a second.
I ended up selling that one and getting a Glock 19 gen 4, burnt bronze cerakoted. I didn't realize a human could love a firearm so much. I have about 100 through it now and it's only getting sweeter.
It is more to carry for sure, but I've found a few places where it doesn't print hardly at all.
I'm planning on taking it to a local precision rifle shop to have the trigger redone and night sights.
I'm still debating on a drop in kit and polish the other pieces, but I'm just not sure it will help, plus the gen 4s are a little more complicated.

Internally besides the the double recoil spring set up the 4's are identical (other differences visible are textured grip, backstrap options and mag release). Love my Glock 19, it is the Gen3 model.

The Alien Gear Holster is EXTREMELY comfortable. One of the shell screws is stripped so I gotta get some loctite and get that fixed. Solid holsters though for sure, and like that I can grab a new shell for any gun they offer and swap.

Sweet! They have a "buy 2 and save" deal. I ended up getting an IWB and OWB for the price of just 1 crossbreed. Can't wait!

I've watched that video several times before; one of these days I may order one of those.

Saw an article today where S&W is going to make the shield in .45. Holy cow I couldn't imagine. The .40 was pretty bad. I've heard the XDS in .45 was a really slick shooter with little recoil, but that came from a buddy who was a legit army sniper.

On a side note, just got the alien gears yesterday. Looking to start carrying them today after work. Looks very promising though, really hid a weapon as big as the 19 very well.

Honestly the .45 recoils differently than the .40 to me. Every platform I've shot both in I'd take the .45 over the .40. The .40 seriously barks/chirps/snaps whatever you want to use to describe it where the .45 is more of a quick push straight back into you.
