I will eventually be getting a new bow and was thinking about going with the single pin adjustable sight. Does anyone have that sight and how do you like it? Seems like it would be a lot easier to aim at one pin and might help with my accuracy.
I personally like Single Pins especially now that my vision is starting to suck from staring at computers all day lol.... Right now I currently have an Extreme 4 pin site that I have loved but like I said the pins are starting to blur a little on me. I had a single pin non adjustable sight before that I really like but I wanted to try the multi-pin sight. I found one at my local pro shop that I like the looks of. It is the Extreme Raptor Ranger. It is adjustable and the pin will be a little farther away from the bow which will help me out.
I use an HHA OL-5019. I love this sight! I used to have a three pin Trophy Ridge sight. It is a big difference for the sight picture. I would highly recommend if you're shooting target. For hunting, it can be more difficult. If the deer comes from 40 yards in to 15 yards you'll have to adjust your sight, or adjust where you're aiming. Also, HHA is based in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Since I'm a Wisconsin man through and through, it was a no-brainer!
I've been shooting a single pin, fixed sight since I can remember. As long as you are sighted in properly, at a decent distance, 25-30 yds, you shouldn't have too many adjustment problems in the field. Todays bows shoot pretty flat out to 30-35 yds. My adjustment from 25 yds, where I'm sighted in at, to 35 yds. is literally only an inch or two. After ranging or estimating your shot distance in the field the only thing to do is adjust your hold slightly. No extra pins to get confused about or mistake for the one you need.
I have a hha ol-5519 as well I like it a lot my next site will be a spot hog hog father single pin with a .010 pin the .019 pin just covers up to much area when shooting out to a 100+ yards plus the hha doesn't have a 3rd axis adjustment Sent from my hand held hunting device
I too hunt with a HHA and absoultly love the sight picture it offers. Not to mention precise yardage. Only drawbacks are 3rd axis adjustment and if you get caught off mark. You can adjust the 3rd, but it isnt easy! In all my years with a slider, only once did I have to hold off and I have killed lots of critters with it! First thing to do is to know your arrow trajectory. For instance, where would your 25 hit at 35, so if such situation arrived, you know where to hold off. The first thing I do is to set my yardage to average distance I expect game to present a shot once I get on stand. If I got a lock on and can't adjust, I still know where to hold to get the job done.
I would look into the Sure-Loc Sportsman. You get ALL axis of adjustment and it is compatible with all of their lenses. Awesome single pin sight, if you are looking to spend in the 250 dollar range.
I have been single pin shopping and thought it would be great to have a sight that can be adjusted at full draw(incase the shot you were planning is not what the deer planned on). I found 2. One is made by Impact Archery. The other is made by Kingsway. Does anyone have any info/opinions on either?
