I've been getting more into target archery recently. I was looking for one of those single pin sights so I can get more range and not be limited to number of pins. I could care less whether it's a target sight or a hunting sight.(I'm far from going pro) With one of these sights how does your peep sight location work. If you shoot farther you move your sight down meaning if you anchor properly the sight will not be centered. Are you supposed to ignore perfect anchor position and move you eyes slightly higher or are you supposed to set your peep sight for one yardage and shoot at that yardage.(this wouldn't work for hunting and makes a movable sight pointless) Please Help!! I don't understand.
Yeah if you are looking in to a single pin sight that does what you are talking about the HHA "slider" type sight is what you are looking for.
so it seems you guys like single pin sights. do you have to adjust you head slightly at different distances to make the sight center in the peep or does it move so little that it doesn't matter?
Vital Gear Proslide. The only sight I really care to use. 1 pin, glow ring under fiber, extremely bright. Sight it in at 20/25 yds and practice holding high or low for longer or shorter distances. jmho
bassman if I am assuming right you will want to keep your anchor and the way you look through the peep the same When you would sight the pin in come to the same anchor so you are always looking through the peep the same. Let the moving pin adjust the distance, don't change your form for different distances.
Ok so let me get this straight. You only have one pin but you set it at one specific distance then, Do you move the slide i see on the side to a new place and the pin moves? Or do you just hold high or low and basically guess? If you move slide to next position, how do you know the distance for next position. I notice some of the sights have a tape on the side and looks so be more of an accurate movement. Could someone please explain? I would love to get rid of my 5 pins and go to one adjustable. Sight picture would be so much better. Also, can you use these sights for hunting or are they only target sights?
I have an HHA OL-19....awesome sight, tons of folks use them for hunting. I have mine set dead on at 22yds, and can just put the pin on the target from 10-30, no guessing or adjusting. Yes, they have yardage tapes or you can make your own. Once you have it set up correctly and dialed in, you just slide it to the distance you want (the pin moves) and hold the pin dead on.
