Since we're discussing country music, why not politics and country music?

The Dixie Chicks-Not Ready To Make Nice

Watching a few videos on Youtube the other day, and this one popped up on the sidebar list. While I've heard this song a lot over the last few years, I never actually saw the video. The video is sort of cool, but more importantly, what do you think of the message and the prior event that took place necessitating this song to be written? Do you feel she was out of line? Do you condone the subsequent death threats they received, and the the essential public "banishment" from country music? I'm not asking whether you like them or not (I wasn't really a fan of their music), but rather, did they deserve what came of the comment Natalie Maines made?

I won't comment much other than my political opinion of the president the comments were directed at have surely changed since this "controversy," and as such, I view this whole situation a little differently than I did when it happened.

I feel any celebrity shouldn't be spewing their political beliefs over the airwaves simply because their opinions doesn't mean any more than yours or mine. But unfortunately they have a lot of influence, especially younger people who will be swayed by what they are being told by these people.

Just shut the heck up and entertain me like you're paid to do.
