I was wondering what are some of the simple, inexpensive things you use while bowhunting that really help you out and do their job for you? Things you count on.

A few of the things I use are my Manzella gloves/mittens, hand muff, GRABBER hand warmers, and the Primos bow sleeve (I take the strap off) to protect my cams, cables, and string.

I was at walmart and found a hunting hand warmer. It's just like the ones that football players use, but I guess made for hunting. I haven't used it yet, but I think it will be awesome for helping me not have to wear gloves when hunting the coldish days.

Lens pen; What's the sense of $1000 worth of dirty glasses that you can't see through?

Bow sling; face it, you're carrying the damn thing more than you're shooting it.

As far as inexpensive, my mind! Haven't you noticed!!??

Seriously, I have trained myself to have a positive attitude for every minute of every hunt. Probably one of my best tools.

Other things that have cost a few bucks but are worth their weight in gold are my Ultimate Camo, Rocky and Wolverine boots and my LW Alpha hang-ons. The comfort and confidence that these things provide is priceless.

    Agreed!

I have, on many occassions, used a piece of 2'x2'x3/4" plywood as a make shift treestand. I saw a 12" (on the open end...with my limb saw) V-notch on two opposite sides of the plywood. I make two holes on each side of the V-notch (4 total) and use ratch straps to secure the platform in the wye of a tree (I use step screws to gain elevation). The straps and the V-notch create a three point mounting system. Since Home Depots are in nearly everyplace I travel, I can make a stand for under $20. I have even had Home Depot employees drill the four holes for me (using a cordless drill and a spade bit). They are more than willing to oblige.

This stand works like a champ. I use a third ratch strap as a make shift seat. Naturally I wear my safety harnass...

Ziploc bags. I keep my permits, rubber gloves, wet wipes, matches, and throw them in the backpack.

Zip ties, IL stopped using adhesive bow permits a few years ago, now they are a must.

Peanut M&M's...won't do an all day sit without them!

Also, agree with Buttonbuckmaster on the zip ties, now that you need to have them in IL for your tags, I find myself using them to zip tie limbs to stands for cover, make loops on a lift seat so you can hook in the up position, and have even used them to hold support bars on ladder stands in place.

For mid-priced items...the Hooeyman saw was a good pick up this year (gift from wife:))

Hot Hands when its really cold and most of all my Gerber saw with exchange blades. Best $20 I ever spent years ago for the saw. I use it for almost everything and I never go into the woods without it!

    Definitely,

    Hand Warmers

    EZ screw in Bow Hanger

A positive Attitude, and the determination to spend as many hours in a Tree as you can make time for.

Unfortunately many things that help a Hunter are a bit more pricey. Two things I would Never skimp on are treestands and clothes.

Staying comfortable is The Most Important aspect of being successful. A hunter that is Not comfortable will Not spend as many hours in a stand. IMHO it is very difficult to spend Long hours in a stand in adverse conditions encountered during season with a cheap stand, and cheap clothes.

I would have to go with chemical hand warmers too. I can't really think of anything that I use while hunting that is inexpensive!

My $8.99 bow hook. I forgot it once this year. What a miserable sit that was. I never realized how much less I can do having to hold/worry about my bow in the tree.

Other things; ziplock bags, bulk box of hand warmers, wire from RJ-45 and CAT 5 cables (great for tags and wire ties), and my $25 Gerber saw/limb cutter set (one of the best hunting purchases I've ever made).

I have one of those little push button red lights that I made a necklace for. It will stay on after you push the button, I use that little red light to set up my gear once I'm in the tree. I can also do a gear check without spooking game.

I buy para cord (550 cord) by the spool, there are a million things you can use it for. The buck I shot last year died in one of my food plots, I obviously didn't want to field dress him there. With the hill it was on and as big as the deer was I was having a hard time dragging him out. I wrapped para cord around his bases, got his head elevated, and hooked the other end to the hitch on my pick up and drug him out with my truck. It's strong stuff.

    Folding hand saw.
