I believe I will be taking that buck tommorow These are some pheasants I harvested the other day along with my neighbors and couple close friends!
Well, with this perfect storm coming our time in the woods may be limited this week. They are calling for winds up to 80mph, and 1-2 inches of rain a day. Not exactly good hunting weather.
Keep your fingers crossed guys...rumor has it an arrow has been released. Details are thin at this point...
Im currently at ride time for my Medic school. Brother Isaac called me about 20 minutes ago and said as he was exiting the woods, he walked up on a bedded buck at 40 yards. He dropped down, came buck up at full draw and the buck was now standing. He released, and the buck took off. He waited a few minutes, then investigated. His arrow is gone and he found a little bit of blood, but its currently raining pretty good. Thats when he got off the phone and started his search. As for size, he stated the buck was "pretty big", but not one of the bigger ones we have around this year. Im awaiting a return call here soon. Needless to say i do not want to sit here at clinicals anymore today.
Its no secret Isaac is the best shot in the family. Im not too worried about the shot, the recovery is another story. Ive lost 2 deer in the rain, and its coming down good out there. The way he described it, the deer could go in one of two directions. He headed directly for a house to the west, from there he could either follow a creek bed to the north, or veer off accross a field, the road and drop into another creek bed to the south. Both routes have been used by hit deer in the past.
Havnt heard back from him since the shot. Hes not answering or returning texts, might be that his phone is away in the rain, hes annoyed, or hes gonna surprise us all. Ill be sure to update.
Just got a text. He found a blood trail, followed it for awhile and is now changing his boots and going back out. Ill keep you guys updated with details.
