For me? No doubt. He wont get a pass. Im sure he will be BEAUTIFUL in a few years...but nothings a given around here.
Heading to the sport shop today to pick up my setup for "Site X". Looking for a big platform and sticks. The girlfriend needs new bolts and camo too (yes, she uses a crossbow). When i do the setup, ill be sure to take plenty of pics. Hopefully ive found one of there homes:
2 new bucks showed up on cam checks today, the bucks are starting to move at night for sure now. Just a few more weeks. Scrapes are popping up everywhere too... Mature half rack: New shooter 8:
As for me, I've had very little time in the woods because of work. I saw 3 does the 2nd weekend I believe and took a 35 yard shot. I felt good, so did the blood trail until it went up a 40ft steep hill into a bean field and disappeared. Went out a few more time to my favorite field sand with only one glimpse of a small buck from far away. I have tomorrow and Tuesday off so I will be trying hard to find the deer.
My gosh, you'll have no problem seeing that last 8 walking through the woods! Could you tell if that half racked 8 is broke off or never had one?
Luck changed a little last night. I setup in the cornpile stand, had a perfect wind, conditions were cool and overcast. About 530 pm i glance over and see a slickhead approaching from the south along the ridge and towards the corn. When she got behind a tree i stood and behind another i drew, ended up with a perfect 20 yard broadside shot. Double lung. She went about 125 yards and piled up in sight. After tagging her i returned to the stand. About an hour later, while scanning with my binos i notice a doe feeding about 75 yards away. She SLOWLY made her way down the ridge to about 45 yards. This entire time a squirrel was making a hell of a racket at a housecat that was following my does blood trail. The doe that was coming in was VERY on edge, and eventually she spooked. I dont believe she ever saw, heard or smelled me, and i think she smelled the bloodtrail. Regardless, i was a successful night and it felt GREAT to get a deer on the ground. Shes my 9th archery whitetail and 12th overall.
Congratulations. Probably sounds silly but for a guy from W. Texas, I am impressed with all those fallen leaves. Made for a nice picture.
Thanks guys, Yes, the leaves have started coming off in the last 2 weeks or so, you can see the difference in all my pics throughout the year.
