Today I put Whiskers on my string of my bow. I'm hoping to still make it quieter, if possible. The shop told me bout these silencers called monkey tails made by Matthews. Anyone use these? Also I was wondering about limb savers and stabilizers. Any advice here would be appreciated.

I don't have one but axion stabs are suppose to be pretty good with silencing. Also a bowjax limb dampeners.... I put the magnum superjax on my MR7 and it helped a good amount. On the monkey tails, I don't have them on my bow, but I know many people that use them so they are probably worth a try.

BowJax RizrJax probably the most overlooked thing out there.

A lot of people report that Monkey Tails don't hold up on the higher poundage bows. Most report they are torn within 500 shots on their bows.

I've never heard of putting both cat whiskers and something else like monkey tails or bowjax on the string. Usually it is one or the other. For the cost and performance, it is hard to be regular ol' whiskers.

What bow are you shooting? Does it have a string stop? If not, consider getting an STS.

I am shooting a PSE. It will probably be the last year I hunt with it cuz I plan on getting something a little more up to date next year. And it doesn't have a string stop.

    STS system questions

How does an STS system work and where do I attach it on my bow? Also is it something I can do myself at home or is it something that requires a bow press? Another question would be that if I buy it for my bow now, can I switch it to another bow if I buy a new one?

I have monkey tails on my z7x. I have it maxed out at 70+ pounds, taken easily close to a thousand shots and no issues whatsoever.

    Look at a string stop.

An STS (specific brand) or any string stop does just that. It stops the forward acceleration of your string and dampens the noise and vibration. Nearly all new bows today come with a factory string stop, but you can easily add one to your bow if it doesn't have one. The STS has a front mount model that would screw into the hole where your stabilizer connects. No bow press needed.

Here is a link to show you pictures of it mounted: http://www.shopatron.com/products/p...t_number=975250/187.0.1.1.27640.0.0.0.0?pp=8&

Here is where I would get it: http://www.bowhunterssupplystore.com

The best way I found to quiet a bow is to shoot heavy arrows. I do not like the limbsavers that split the sting. They changed my tune and I never could get then to last. I have monkey tails on my bow that has 4000+ shots and only broke one. You can put them on without a press. Lots of stablizer to try. Some work good at reducing noise some not at all. You just need to try what you can and see.
