I have a missions riot compound bow with a one pin sight how for should I sight in my bow for deer hunting? The farthest I'll be shooting is about 30 yards. I know I'll have to shoot a little higher for longer shots and a little under for closer shots but where should I sight in at? I'm pulling about 55-60 pounds

For white tail anyway. Stand hunting most times you'll need them with in 30 to keep from having limbs block your shot anyway. And from there you never know when they'll be closer. So I'd put her dead on at 25 that way so long as they are 30 or less you will have some forgiveness when u miss fudge yardage. The best advice I can give is to take the single pin and junk it and buy a three or four pin at least.

Always set your first pin at a solid 20-25 yards, in your case set your pin at 25, anything outside of that your just gonna have to wing it but I would wait for that 25-30 yard shot.

Most bow hunting shots occur at sub 25 yards. My farthest in the field was 37 and that's rare. I'd set the pin at 20-25 and it will work great from 5-35

Use a range finder or measuring tape find out your distance say 25 is dead then at 35 it drops 3 inches 45 it drops 6 inches so you know how high you have to adjust for the shot to be dead on

Yes 25 is your best bet but I suggest a new sight when funds allow. Unless you like a single pin for some reason or another.

If you trim your lanes properly you won't have an issue with limbs.

Junk it? Do you know how many people hunt with a single pin? If that's the best advise you can give, you may want to rethink giving any at all. If he feels comfortable with a single pin, he should use just that.

To the OP, sight it at 25 and practice different yardages so you get use to it.

U have your opinion as do I. I've never been a fan of single pin sights. Main reason because any range out side of the exact range the pin is set is guess work. And well I want to know for sure when I shoot an animal where I'm gonna hit it and not just wound it. It's kind of unethical to me. Also I've been hunting for 25 years I know very well how to clear a shooting lane thanks. But that doesn't mean that the deer I'm after is gonna present himself in tha lane or lanes. It's good to be universal enough to be able to pull of a shot when it's not perfect. And that's what I mean by there won't be many out side thirty five yards. Thanks and have a blessed hunting season

Single pin at 25 yards is perfect it works well from 20-30 yards and with a little practice 45 yards is no problem

my single pin is dead on anywhere from 20-80 yards. It depends on what you get, if you spend the money like I did on an HHA optimizer ultra you won't have a problem. A lot of people like using a single pin because your sight picture isn't clouded with other pins.
