I just switched from a 3-pin to 5-pin sight yesterday. I am still pretty fresh to the technical side of archery equipment so things like sighting in a new distance is foreign to me. What are your best tips for sighting in pins out to 60 yards, maybe even 70 yards?

I shoot about 250 FPS through a Bow Madness if this detail is important.

May I ask why you are wanting to shoot such far distances?

One way is to use your other pins. Lets say you have your first three pins sighted in at 20-30-40.

Now, to get a pin close for 60 yards you need a target. Hold your 40 yard pin on the bullseye. Then while holding there, look where your 20yd pin is and make a note. Now if you hold your 40 yd pin where your 20 was, and the bullseye is where your 60 should be. Once you set the 60 pin, you can then start tweaking it through practice.

This is also how you can shoot further without having more pins.

    Does this make sense?

It's great to practice at long ranges, then 20 & 30 yds feel like a chip-shot. It also lets you fine tune your form.

It does. I have only messed with the 20 yard pin so far, using that technique should save me some time.

The way I do it and it has served me well is sight in my 20 and 30. Use the gap between the two as a reference to space the others. I can now hit within a few inches doing it that way then fine tune from there. With all my bows so far (265fps+ is what they have been though) this works great I've also used it on sub 250fps bows and it also worked. Just a little more gap between the pins. One more thing I do. I always aim center mass of the target that way if it's off by much, the arrow still hits the target.

Where I hunt the furthest I can shoot is 40 yards. But I do have my pin set for 50 just in case.
