I recently switched from the WB to the Carbon Apache. Since we are having some nice weather here in PA ive been shooting alot. The other day i went out to shoot and i was shooting like 2 inches to the left. So i made the proper adjustments and all was good. Then i noticed that every other couple days of shooting the same problem kept happening. I was shooting about 2 inches to left and had to move my sight. Anyone with any ideas what could cause this? Im shooting the mathews chill and its a truglo sight. thanks
I assume you made sure everything was tightened properly? Have you paper tuned to make sure everything is lined up and your arrows are flying true? I personally don't care for TruGlo products a single bit. Not saying that's the problem but maybe something to consider.
Yeah i made sure everything was tight. My plan is to switch to a hha single pin soon but until then i need to find a solution for this problem for the time being.
Could you be pulling the shot? Besides a rest/sight issue, paper tuning is about all you can do. Does it happen on every shot? Perhaps a bad arrow?
The first thing to do is make sure that you're arrow is flying true. Paper tuning is one way to check it, walk back tuning is another. I'll post a link to that for you. Also, with the carbon apache, look at the launcher arm and see if the felt looks like it is getting contacted by the fletching. Mine did that as well. If it is contacting, it will push the arrow left just a little bit. The other questions is, is the arrow hitting the same distance left at all ranges? As in, is it 2" left at 20, 30 and 40? Or is it 2" at 20, 4" at 30 and 6" at 40? Walk Back Tunning | Bowhunting.com Blog
Thanks a lot and I'll have to check on the launcher arm and other yardages. I've only mainly been shooting 20 yards right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
When you move the rest left or right for the walk back tuning, won't you then have to move your sight also to then make your 20 yard pin accurate again? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Maybe a tiny, tiny bit at the very end. But you're adjusting your rest to bring the arrows towards the point of impact where the pin is being held. So, if the line falls to the left and you move your rest to the right (very very small increments) the arrows should start hitting closer to where you are holding the pin.
