I got a GWS Pro Hunter 2000 Fiber Optic Slide Single Pin Archery Bow Sight from a friend of mine and am having trouble sighting in my bow. I don't have a peep sight and think that might help but I'm not sure. Any help is appreciated

yeah, usually a peep sight is required. unless you have a sight that doesnt require a peep, but they are less common. Take it to your pro shop and have one put in, looking at maybe 20$.
