Hi guys, This is my first bow and will be my first year of bow hunting. At the range at 10 yards I'm pretty dead on with nice groups obviously at 10 its not that hard. At 20 and 30 yards when I put my pins on the target I'm getting steady groups to the left of where I'm aiming. I have moved my sight to the right to try and bring them over but still same result. As I'm new it could be my form but is it maybe I need to move my rest to the right? Any advice would be great! Thanks in advance, Tim
If your arrows are hitting left, you need to move your pins to the left, as well. Seems weird, I know.. but trust me.
Thats right, hitting left move sight to left, hitting high move sight up, hitting low move sight down, hitting right move to right.
Thanks for the help guys! I'll move it over, but I only have two adjustment lines to move to the left. If I have to move any more would I have to move the rest then? Thanks again for the help!
The guy at Cabela's set it up, when I'm looking at the sight from the right side of the bow it has two lines to move to the left. I can keep moving it to the left and am still able to lock it down. I'll move it and test it this week. It's pretty on at 10 yards and obviously then further out you go the move any movement can effect it. Here is the link to what setup I have. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Hunt...791680;cat104693580;cat104235480;cat103967280
yep...alawys chase your arrows. Move in slight incriments. Your first go around, it may take a bit. Stay patient, shoot and shoot some more. Get comfortable and dial er in. It may take a few dozen arrows to get it the way you want
A couple of things i would suggest. get a little help from a good shop or friend on your first go around setting things up. research a good book on shooting form and follow it. I'm starting my 37th year of bow hunting this year and two years ago a new friend taught me more about shooting form in one year than i had learned in 35yrs on my own. Practice dosent make perfect. perfect practice makes perfect!!! Good luck and have fun!!
Look at it this way. Shoot an arrow. Now hold the bow up and put the pin where it was when you shot that arrow. Now where was the pin supposed to be? Where the arrow hit. Right? Adjust the pin to be there. This is an easy way to visualize which direction and how much to move you pin.
I just wanted to say thanks again to everyone who posted. I have the bow sighted in out to 40 yards and will do 50 this weekend. I'm getting nice groups and they are hitting right where I was putting my pin. Thanks!
Great to hear... Its exciting and fun to shoot when your hitting right where your aiming.. Good luck this year in the deer woods..
