Well, I hate to admit this after nearly 30 years of owning compound bows, but I have a question I'm not sure what to do about.

The 3-pin sights on my Diamond Black Ice are maxed out at 50 yards. The bottom pin is dead-on perfect for me at 50 yards, but the pin is as low as it can possibly go, and the entire frame is also at the lowest setting. This is a new bow for this season -- my old PSE sights are just fine. Never had this problem before.

Any of you wise counselors out there have an idea of where I should start? (I ordered it from the internet, so there wasn't a shop to tune it before I bought it.)

I would start with your nock point. I would say that it is a little high, causing you to shoot low to start with. Maybe check that out. Also look at where your rest sits in relation to the holes that the rest mounts to. You usually want to use this as a reference point as to where your arrows sits. You want your arrow to be lined up with holes.

Does it have a peep sight? If it does, the peep might be too low (or high?). I don't use a peep but I know that having it too high or low makes a difference.

3 pin's to 50yds on a Diamond Black Ice??? You're stretching it. Likely, you need to re-adjust your peep though, if you're pin is at the bottom of the housing and is hitting at 50yds. I have a Black Ice that at 29" and 68#, I set up with pins at 24 - 32 - 40yds, and it's shooting my arrows around 275fps. Post up a picture, but if the rest and nock point are at appropriate settings, I suspect your peep is too high.

The Black Ice is a great bow once you get it set up right, no doubt about it, you just have to get it where you need it. Not sure if this helps or not, but you can see sort of where my peep is and some results.....

Thanks to everyone that replied and offered suggestions!

Found the problem -- it was a combination of the peep sight being a little off and the nocking loop being slightly off. Guess that's what I get for buying it via an internet package instead of the local shop.

My 20 yard pin is as high as it can go.... but, my frame does not move as it is an older bow.

    So here's what I did...

    1. Adjusted height of peep sight....

    2. Took bow from 68# of draw to 60lbs...

    3. Had my local shop adjust my arrow rest as well....

My only other option was to buy a new sight with a movable cage/frame but I don't have enough money right now.

I am doing pretty well now....

Remember, every little adjustment seems to change things quite a bit, at least in my experience.

    Best of shooting luck!!!
