I'm looking into getting a new sight any auggestions would be appreciated. What's the difference between the .019 and 0.29 pin sizes? Is the smaller one more accurate then the other? Do the smaller pin's make your shots more accurate?

    Hi,

the smaller pins do not make your shot more accurate. Thats only your skill which does ;o)
But the smaller pins do not cover as much of your target than bigger ones do. You might think that this is only a litte, but in real the difference is great. If i where you i would get the smallest pins i can get. I use a G5 XR2 with 0,19 pins. That's ok for me.

There is a truglo site with gradually decreasing pin diameters. Normal all the way down to micro sized. The thinking goes as your target gains distance it size decreases, so your pins should do the same.

Some manufactures now have .010 sizes so you might want to check into this.

I had my Spot Hogg custom made and had .019 used for my 20, 30, and 40 pins then .010 for my 50 & 60 pins. Works really well for me as the .010 dont take up as much space over the target at the longer ranges

    I have a G5 rock sight (I would recommend) that has 4 .010 pins.
This is mostly self preference. Some people like larger pins up close.
Myself, I like the pin as small as I can get it.

My advice would be to go to the shop in which you're going to buy and test a few on their range. Get a few different pin sizes then walk over and put them on the target.

    There are 5 basic sizes, .029, .019, .010 and axion has .020 and .009.

The best way to find the sight is to find the pin size you like, get the number of pins you want, any other features, and then go searching for that sight. There are TONS of different sights on the market in every variety you can dream.

I wanted 4 pins, .010, lost camo, a more open window, and a light that was veritcal mounted, emitted onto the fibers, and pretty tough, all at a reasonable cost.
I went with the G5 rock sight. I was between that and the lower end extreme.

A good sight is probably the most important part of your bow. Take your time and find the one you want.

in my oppinion the .019 is the perfect pin size for hunting good for close up and good for distance , not covering up to much of your kill zone up close
