I was just wondering if anyone actually uses the lights that come on some sights. I always thought they made my pins so bright I can't see past them. I guess if they were really dim I could, but then I probably couldn't see my peep anyway. Maybe a Glow Peep and a light would be good? Your thoughts?
No, I have never used my light on my sight. Dont know if I would feel comfortable shooting at an animal where I need a light to see my pins. Just my opinion.
they work. Otherwise they would not be included with most sights. That being said, they aren't legal in all states.
I have had a few sights with lights but other than practice I do not ever remember turning them on. My current MGB Ascent doesn't even have a light and I am good with that.
Last year I thought I didn't need one until a good buck came out in front of my blind and I couldn't see my pins.. After not sleeping for a couple of nights I realized I needed to get a light.
I have once... it helps but I actually leave the leave the light on for a few days to drain out the batteries so its a little dimmer... with brand batteries its too bright and I have a hard time seeing the pins... but I also notice that if u leave you site in the sun long enough hanging on the side of the tree it kinda charges the fibers just enough to light even when getting dark...
HHA has nice light with adjustable brightness and you can control the intensity. I love mine. Works really well for night hog hunting.
My Trophy Ridge has an adjustable light on it but I've never had to use it. It gathers so much light it's crazy. I could see the light being very useful in a blind though as most have mentioned, but in a stand it lights up really quick.
I use a Trophy Ridge Cypher 5. The pins are always visible in low light. I just hate how the middle pin, my 35 yard pin, is red. It seems I shoot better with the green pins. My light has never worked and I was curious to see if anyone else uses the lights. I also wanted to try the Glow peep because I have more trouble seeing my peep than the pins in low light situations.
I removed mine and made a dummy cover to fill the hole. Turns out in CO, where I have an elk hunt this year, lights aren't allowed on sights,.
