I know its late but I need some help with sighting my bow. It is an old Bear Whitetail Master probably 12 to 15 years old. I just got it restrung and tuned and at 20yds I am dead on with the first pin. The problem I am having is that when I move out to 40yds I have to use the bottom of the 4 pins which is about an inch from the top pin. I am wondering why my pins need to be spread out so much? Mabey my bow is finally showing its age, I havent shot it in close to 8 years, or I have the sight wrong...etc. I can shoot consistent groups at 40 with the bottom pin so with it only being 19 days till the season I can leave it and deal, just have to be sure Im not shooting at anything over 40yds. Any Ideas are welcome! Thanks!

Try raising your sight and make sure you're looking at it the same at 20 and 40. Are you saying the last pin is bottoming out at 40?

An inch sounds like a lot even for a slower bow. Maybe your nock point is too high, or your rest is too low and you are bleeding energy. Let us know what you find.

I know I am looking at it the same with the kisser and peep. the pins go as follows... top-20yds 2nd-30 3rd-35 4th-40. The second and third pins shoot way low at 40 and the 4th pin is dead nuts at 40. I havent moved any of the pins individually, when I had it restrung at the local archery shop the owner had me at 20yds and he zeroed me there by moving the entire sight up, down, left and right but not any of the pins individually.

uhm, how did you sight in anything past 20 yards if you didn't move the pins? Maybe you should move the pins individually?

By dead nuts, are you saying that it's bottomed out and you can't move it down anymore?

I probably need to move the pins individually. And I can move the pin more, what I mean by dead nuts is that when using the bottom pin at 40 yds I am grouping nicely

Im sorry, im really really confused. Are you saying that the arrows weren't landing where the pins were originally set at, but you never also bothered to move the pins to sight in your bow?

Well I am starting to confuse myself. I am going to start over and start moving the pins and see what I get and then we'll go from there. Sorry to keep confusing you! Thanks for the help so far and I will update this thread when I play with the sights more.

no problem, come back when you get the chance. From what I could understand, you just needed to move your pins up and down to sight your bow in. Im guessing you thought the bow shop had sighted that in...

Well quite honestly they can't sight in your bow, no one can, only you. As you will line up the nock and sight and anchor the way you do it, a person could be the same size, weight and DL as you, but the pins will be different. Anyways glad you got it figured out. Have fun out there.
