    Looking for some insight here.

I bought my bow 2 years ago and had a Black Gold sight put on. Thus far, no issues, no complaints. The indicator marker on the sight has always sat at 40 yards, so I have a 20, 30 and 40 pin.

Saturday my son was shooting so I decided when he got done to try a couple 100 yard shots. I adjusted the sight down, but it would let me get to 100 yards as it stopped short at 95 yards. No big deal since I couldn't physically get to 100 anyway. Did 3 shots, hit the target each time.

Yesterday morning, I shot a couple before work. First one drilled the fence and I realized I had reset the sight, so I reset it. When I reset it, however, it now tops out around 15 yards, so my 40 yard marker (which has always hit spot on with the indicator pin) doesn't line up. Insstead it lines up at 35 yards.

What has happened here? I've looked to see if there's a piece missing or if anything looks off and it doesn't. But now my top and bottom end have adjusted by 5 yards.

I'm a little confused. It sounds like you have a 3-pin sight with a single yardage indicator, correct? If the bow is sighted in with the yardage indicator set at 40 yards, wouldn't you just put it back to the 40-yard mark?

Correct. 3 pins, 20-30-40. Indicator sits at the 40 yard marker.

I'm more curious why it all of the sudden has shifted to allow the base to change. It's always been a situation of when the indicator hit the 40 mark, I had adjusted as far as I could. Now it's giving me an additional 5 yards to 35.

So you're saying when the sight is "bottomed out," it used to stop at 40, and now it goes to 35? If that's the case, it sounds like the indicator itself may have shifted. I think Black Gold sights have a movable indicator pin. Check and make sure it didn't come lose or get bumped.

It also sounds to me like the indicator pin has shifted. Like Justin said, on many sights the indicator pin is adjustable.
Perhaps it is only "snug" and when you dialed the sight all the way down, the indicator came up against the bottom and then slid up a bit as you dialed it a bit more trying to get to 100 yards. Then, when you dialed the sight back up as far as it will go, it made the indicator sit at 35 yards rather than the normal 40 yards.
So, dial the sight as far up as it will go and then loosen and adjust the indicator pin to sit perfectly on the 40 yard mark again. Then, confirm your pins are still hitting accurately for their distances.
