I took the pellet gun out to sight in today. Last year I went to Wal-Mart and bought a Crosman "Storm XT" (1700 fps). A word to the wise, although the gun is okay for squirrel hunting don't cheap out if you have a few extra $$$. I have never shot a Gamo or any other brand they HAVE TO BE BETTER. The trigger on this gun is horrorble and the groups at 30 yards suck IMO. But the gun is powerful and under 30 yards it pretty accurate. It is sighted in so I can definitely hit a squirrel at 30 but a head shot is not gonna happen at that yardage.

    Bruce, mine is a .17 cal. I've tried 3 different ammo's.
You're right a .22 wmr is hard to beat but I can't use it on the sewer easement behind the housing development.

    Nice!

I bought a Gamo Whisper two years ago to keep the squirrels out of the garden. It came with a 3-9x scope on it, and it's really accurate.....can hit a quarter sized spot every time at 20 yards and pretty much don't miss squirrels anymore out to 35 yards or so. I found that if I hit them behind the shoulder, the kill percentage goes way up compared to head shots.

My brother has a BB pistol. It was horrible. He doesn' t really hunt so I talked him into an upgrade to some better ballistic pellets. He killed 23 chipmunks and a couple red squirrels in his yard this year with open sights. LOL The ammo makes all the difference. He doesn't hunt, but the old Marine is a pretty good shot. One of his Marine Corps buddies was up last week from Va. He brought along 3 new guns to sight in, an M14, and M1 and a 30-30 lever action. I took him up to the Rod and Gun club I belong to. Sighted them all in at 100. When he was done my brother who doesn't hunt shot them. He had several near Ballintine signs. I can't shoot yet because of the recent pacemaker installation.

I bought my father and I a gamo. It is something like 1000 fps with regular lead. Longest shot so far on a chipmunk (thats what it was purchased to control) is 47 yards!!! we are blown away by it. He killed w groundhogs at 30+ yards and i killed one mangy squirrel at 40 yards. you can shoot a dime all day out to 30 then it opens up to about 2 inches. after 50 though it really just drops like a stone

I had a Benjamin air rifle when I was a kid, that thing was a menace to tree rats. I used it for a few years, and killed many squirrels.
