Yes... we should certainly follow China's lead... Where, as Obama said during the election,.. "AK-47s belong in the hands of soliders, not in the hands of criminals". Of course since only the government has the guns, they get to decide who is the 'criminal'. Like these dissidents. Disagree with the oppression?.. that's okay, you too can get a bullet into the back of the head. And China IS calling for the USA to ban guns. So that should make us all feel better. China, which has killed tens of millions of it's own people..... really cares about our well-being. I feel all warm and fuzzy just thinking about it. http://www.jewishpress.com/blogs/yo...demanding-stricter-us-gun-control/2012/12/19/
I was referring to you talking about gun classifications. Full autos, suppressors, grenades call all be purchased under a class three weapons license. Under the gun ban, manufacturing of the current model (six position stocks, flash suppresors, 30 round mags) will cease. You will not be able to get them regardless firearms licenses. For the record, all guns are lethal. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
I see both sides. But, if I had a child/spouse/friend/parent in that school, or theatre, or mall, or office, or (pick any mass shooting)........I would probably not worry too much about someone wanting to own a semi-auto assault weapon that was originally designed for military use. I would likely want someone standing up for my dead child/spouse/friend and more importantly, those that are still alive. Those weapons have a very special and limited intended purpose. Killing coyotes was never meant to be one. And as a gun enthusiast, I am totally okay with that. Again, I own guns that I would be absolutely fine with turning in if they were made illegal. My opinion is not popular here, but it is quite reasonable. If the only life it saved was your own child, you would be glad to do the same. The fact is, it would save lives.
The point is it wont save any lives. It just makes people feel like they are doing something and guns are easier than addressing the real issues. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
Class 3 and Title II are sorta the same thing. (see below). My main point was that some mistakenly think this is the first weapons restrictions in our country and signals the end of gun ownership.. Just wanted to show there have been several gun laws back to 1934. As far as what the final AW bill is, that remains to be seen. Several ideas floating around. Maybe return to the 1994-2004 rules (keep your existing guns but ban making any more) or additionally require a title II registration for all existing AW's like machine guns. "It is a common misconception that an individual must have a "Class 3 License" in order to own NFA firearms. An FFL is required as a prerequisite to become a Special Occupation Taxpayer (SOT): Class 1 importer, Class 2 manufacturer-dealer or Class 3 dealer in NFA firearms, not an individual owner. Legal possession of an NFA firearm by an individual requires transfer of registration within the NFA registry. An individual owner does not need to be an NFA dealer to buy Title II firearms. The sale and purchase of NFA firearms is, however, taxed and regulated, as follows: All NFA items must be registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). Private owners wishing to purchase an NFA item must obtain approval from the ATF, obtain a signature from the Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) who is the county sheriff or city or town chief of police (not necessarily permission), pass an extensive background check to include submitting a photograph and fingerprints, fully register the firearm, receive ATF written permission before moving the firearm across state lines, and pay a tax."
Ya ,..... Canada just lossened its gun regs. We have laws like no mags bigger than 12 rounds. It's not the end of guns in U.S.A. I could see more regs for you guys though. ?
Imagine if there was word that they were going to make illegal any production of future bows that shot over 190FPS because they were deemed "too lethal"? So would you be a "crazy bow nut" for going out and buying an additional bow as fast as you could? Just because you aren't into tactical and target shooting doesn't mean it's not someone else's valid hobby. Are there steps that can be taken to help future tragedies - yes, I think there probably are - and those need to be looked at. But it should also start by focusing on enforcing existing laws on EVERYTHING not just guns. Hell, it's estimated 27 people PER DAY die from drunk driving related accidents in the US, including hundreds of innocent children per year - talk about preventable tragedies...
