This could not be further from the truth. Canada has some pretty strict gun laws and hunting is alive and well there. The entire NRA slippery slope argument is a bunch of drivel and has zero credibility here. Please dont continue to spread this "sky is falling" mentality about gun control. It is simply not accurate, but exactly what the gun-nuts want you to believe. What we all better be prepared for are some tighter restrictions and regulations. And, if there is even a remote chance that it will save lives, we better unselfishly embrace it.
Read some of the news reports and what ppl are saying up in Chicago ever since that judge told Illinois to come up with a ccw. There's a fair amount of people that believe to get rid of crime the only people that should have guns are Leo's. The same amount of people that chose to believe that what they're after is probably the same amount that have no clue about guns other then they cause crime believe they should be taken away.
"Next" would imply that something has already happened other than a bunch of talk. I'm not expecting big changes in gun control just because a bunch of people are freaking out about it. I heard all this stuff 4-5 years ago too. America has this thing called the three branches of goverment. The President doesn't have the power to just do as they please.
I'm sorry, maybe I am thick today, but I am not making any sense of this. Can you just tell me what people in Chicago are saying and rephrase the rest of your post so I can understand your point please?
the point I was trying to make is the antis will guaranteed continue to ATTEMPT to divide and conquer. you are letting them. the anti's will not stop......ever. you could ban every ar in north america and they would just move on to handguns and hunting rifles. and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to wake up. do you honestly think they would just ban ar's and stop and say ok we are at an acceptable level of guns? they WILL NEVER STOP. If you give them an inch they will take a mile. How you guys fight gun control in the usa has a direct impact on the Canadian market as well. they will just toss any semi into a bump fire stock make a sensational video and semi anything will have its nuts on the chopping block.
The fact that you believe I am letting them is comical. Because I dont have a burning desire to keep assault rifles is going to lead to the end of firarm ownership in this country? That is like believing that President Obama is going to be the end of this country. Plenty of folks believe that too. Neither could be further from the truth. The West was won with 6 shots at a time. I guess I can live with that. I own dozens of firearms, so its not like I am not a gun enthusiast. But, there are several in my collection that I really have no practical purpose for. They can have them, there are a lot of folks like me. But, they wont get EVERY gun I own. There are even more folks like that. It just wont happen. In my opinion, to insist on owning guns that our founding fathers could never even have imagined, is selfish. I love to shoot as much as the next guy, but if there is any chance that lives could one day be saved, they can come take all of my semi-auto high capacity weapons and magazines. I really have no plausible reason to insist otherwitse. Because I know that would not be the end of gun ownership in this country. By the way, I have a son that is going to be a teacher, and hope to have grandkids that will attend school. I would do anything to make sure they are given every opportunity to safely pursue those endeavors. A few guns seems like an extremely small price to pay for even one life. Facts are, killers go with what is easy and readily available. People that want to kill, will kill, but I am not willing to continue to make it any easier. That fact that several of these idiots' semi-autos jammed actually has saved many, many lives. Nobody can argue that point. Everyone here knows how I feel about it and my opinion is not knee-jerk reaction. You dont have to agree with it, but I have yet to hear an argument against it that did not seem self-serving or hollow.
Ha basically the whole city of Chicago is anti-gun, or at least most of the appointed officials. Ever since a supreme court in the state said it was unconstitutional for Illinois to not have ccw and gave them 180 days to pass something there's been a big uproar saying more guns will create more violence because up there gangs shoot people all the time and we should have stricter gun laws and basically make it harder to have them for anyone. The rest of the post was meaning you said gun-nuts want you to believe they're gonna take all our guns and I was merely saying there's jus as many people on both sides that are on extremely different ends of the argument. It's been that way in Illinois for awhile.
Don't forget I live in a country that you need an authorisation to transport from the police to transport your handgun or any other "restricted" gun to the range because that is the only place you can legally shoot it. My 4 1/4 inch smith 686 is restricted but a 4 inch is a prohibited weapon. Canada USED to have a lot more gun rights then we do now. so I have seen first hand that they just keep going. after handguns and hunting rifles. Its not some hypothetical situation. It is the law here and I just don't want the same thing to happen to you guys. the idea that you could stop sick people from attacking schools by banning guns is stupid. the day after the school shooting in the states there was a man that stabbed 22 kids in primary school in china and they have a ban on civilian gun ownership outright except the elite rich people.
How many of those kids in China died? None I believe, right? See the difference. The psycho used what was available to him in both instances. But here, 26 people died. Pretty clear analogy. Actually makes a pretty good argument for gun control doesnt it? Good example, thanks.
umm Your making his point. Not one death in the China attack. And regulating weapons is nothing new or crazy. The 1934 Firearms Act regulated gangster weapons (Machine Guns, street sweeper shotguns, silencers ) which was expanded in 1968 Safe Streets Act to include flamethrowers, grenades. etc.. And the gun owners world did not come to an end. None of these are banned, they're regulated as Title II weapons. That's what they are proposing with assault weapons. If you really want one you can go thru the process. It means only really serious owners get seriously lethal weapons. Now technology has brought us the assault rifle at Walmart prices and hopefully it will be added to the list. If it stops one Newtown, it's worth it. The Newtown mother would not have bought a AR-15 if she had to go through the Title II firearm process. It's a pain in the *** and should be for these weapons. That's why you don't see bazookas at Cabela's. If we gun owners keep denying we have any responsibility for public safety, we just may loose all our rights.
http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2012/12/19/man-gets-mad-in-barber-shop-shoots-toward-patron/ people cant even talk about the shooting without pulling a gun out.
Canada is burning gun registrations and loosening their gun laws. Ironic, their economy has surpassed ours and they are becoming more conservative and we are becoming more liberal. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
Fletch, i understand where your coming from but understand, just because it doesn't affect you, doesn't mean that one day it won't. When that happens, im sure you will want someone standing up for you. Mental illness and gun free zones. As well as a loss of family and family values. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
So that guy sucked at killing people. Here's some more info on China school attacks. Plenty of children have been killed in the past couple years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Chinese_school_attacks
