If I'm going to hunt in the morning I shower the night before. If I'm going to hunt in the afternoon I shower before I head out. We don't have showers at work so it is really tough to hunt after work and squeeze a shower in. I always have wipes with me so that is the best I can do for the situation I've been given. Out of all the above options, I don't hunt, if the wind isn't right.
I will shower everytime I go out. Mainly because I don't have the time to hunt after work. If I did I might miss a shower here and there mainly due to time like some had mentioned. sent from my mini hand held phone
I shower every time if possible. I play the wind every single hunt, however experience tells me that showering does help keep the odds a little better. Not astronomically better, just better.
I try to shower before every hunt, however my 2 biggest bucks a 198 and 174 were killed without shower prior. Hunting the wind is far more important than a shower Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I look at the debate as such, showering before hunting is allot like why we wear camo. You don't need to shower if you play the wind. Just as you don't need to wear camo if you don't move much and do so appropriately ( while not being stared at). But every little thing helps. I, like most of you work towards my hunts all year. Be it season, shed season, stand placement, plots etching. I understand and agree with the "wind" argument but why skimp out on such a little thing yet work so hard in every other aspect.
My 8 largest bucks were all killed with no shower taken right before I went out to hunt. biggest one went 156". My clothes are kept very clean and I spray down my boots before going out. I will not hunt a spot in which the wind is not favorable.
I found out as a kid, hunting after school, that keeping my hunting clothes outside hanging around our fresh cut wood made more difference than showering with scent free soap today. I still do the shower, but I focus on the clothing smelling like the woods now...Fresh cut wood in my tote.
I always take a scent free shower and make sure wind is in our favor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Scent free soap shampoo and laundry detergent year round. Once deer seasons close won't go near the girlfriend if she's wearing perfume. Have her using scent free laundry detergent too yr round.
I shower the night before if it is a morning hunt or all day sit. I always do before an evening hunt. FYI, I also have a scent free wash cloth and drying towel I use only for hunting season. I also carry a scent free hand towel with me to the stand to use as I walk in if it is hot. I use scent free wipes once I get to the base of the tree and once I climb in the stand.
