I was surprised too... yes it hit bone - front of ribcage maybe? He lunged backward and turned to bolt the opposite direction when I shot and the broadside vitals shot turned into a neck/in front of leg shot. I was initially mortified as I watched him run off with the arrow in his neck! bad shot! bad shot! nightmare tracking job! oh crap! he bolted off down the hillside stumbling and falling and crashed at the bottom then got up and made it 40 more yards before expiring a few minutes later. there was no blood for 20 yards, which concerned me too although I knew he was down, then there was plenty. all I found of the arrow was a 1' section out of the middle. no broad head and no fletching end, but I didn't get to look for long before dragging help arrived then we had work to do.

I dug around in the wound trying to find the broad head but could not find it embedded. I took it to a processor so I didn't get to look thoroughly in the neck either.

Thanks! my second buck with the bow and not a bad deer for an Ozark ridge runner!

Diamond Core 62lb pull. Broadhead is a Muzzy fixed 3 blade. 30 yd shot broadside slightly quartering towards. There was no blood trail. only blood i found was a little bit where he was standing when i shot and then it where he piled up at, there was a good 5 foot river of blood. He ran about 60 yds after the shot. Not sure why there wasn't a blood trail. shot looked to be good.
