Its that time of year, When you get a deer, post a photo of the damage the broadhead does and tell us what head, what distance, draw weight, etc. I see so many post asking which broadhead is best, the answers are usually opinion. So, the proof is in the results.
I'm on vacation, I can't hunt until I get home next week. It's the 1'st year I can remember that I wasn't out on the first day. heres one from last year exit wound, Grim reaper 100 gr. 1-3/4"@ 20 yards, 60 lb. bow
That one nice hole. Wish I had some too post but cant find any right now. I will post some fresh ones when I get em
This is from Tuesday, opening day doe. Hit a little high but at 15 yards the angle put the exit hole right behind shoulder. She dropped in tracks and was done in 10 minutes. Didn't get a pic of exit. Rage 2 blade chisel tip 125 g, but they don't work ha.
This picture isn't from this year, but it was the biggest entry hole I've ever seen! Rage 2 blade Hoyt Lazertec 70# draw
Here's the entry (sorry no close up) on my doe from 9/20/13. Its from a Rage 2 blade 100gr. Sorry no exit wound pic either. But it exited low ribcage on opposite side (Took out both lungs and top of heart) down by opposite elbow. Absolute insane blood trail!! Was like the red carpet at an awards show! Haven't seen anything like it since firearm hunting.
No exit hole here either... G5 Montec 125 gr., Bowtech 101st Airborne, 60lbs, Took out both lungs and top of heart. Down in less then 50 yards. Blood was splattered on trees and covered the ground. First deer with this broadhead and I was real happy with the results. 12 yard shot so it appears a little high but it exited in the armpit.
I've got some old ones.... if you want to see... NAP Killzone G5 T3 Entrance: Exit: Rage 2 Blade Entrance: Exit: Entrance: Exit: This is where it gets nasty, shot was low, but the blades opened in the vertical position, and sliced her open... Entrance only:
Entry and exit holes are great, but it's what you do in between that counts. There's no need to look for a blood trail when u hit em like this.... NAP deep 6 spitfire max. 70 lbs, 30", Easton FMJ's 532 grains.
I shot her almost straight down this morning rage 2 blade extremes! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
When taking downward angled shots from an elevated stand I would be more interested in exit holes than entry holes. The size of the entry hole is not really that important. What you want is a decent exit hole down low so that you have every opportunity for a good blood trail.
Here is a downward angle. Taken last night at 10 yards quartering away. LOVING my Killzone Maxx's!!! Entry Hole Exit Hole
