Have had a total of 4 surgeries on both shoulders over the last 6 years. The syptoms your describing are what I had repaired this last winter. In my case it was early onset arthritis in a small joint in the top of the shoulder. Hurts like hell, but for me it feels better when I shoot small amounts each day. Lots of motion with not alot of resistance. I now shoot 10-15 arrows at a time, then stop, then again after an hour or so. PM if you'd like some info on it. Good Luck
Picked the bow up yesterday for the first time in a week (that was tough lasting that long). Went and shot 6 arrows. Shoulder was a little ackward feeling after shooting but no pain like before. Taking anti-inflam. meds and doing the list of 30 exercises the doc gave me and it seems to be helping. Im just taking it slow. Thanks again for all the advice and help! Much appreciated!
My mom had rotator cuff surgery last year. She was back to pulling her bow back and hunting within 3 weeks...just sayin My shoulder will occasionally pop out of socket if its cold and I havent drawn my bow back for a while and I fail to pay attention to keeping my left arm fully extended while drawing. Hurts like an SOB.
I fought a shoulder problem for 2 years i had it checked out and did cortizone shots for a year and half before finally getting it fixed and i was shooting my bow 2 weeks after surgery. I had 1 small tear in the tendon and 3 bone spurs and arthritist built up around it! I'm still a little weak from taking it easy on it for 2 years but it is 100% better, I had the surgery in march of this year. I would def. see a doctor before you do more damage.
Well guys just a quick update. I have been doing EVERYTHING I have been told including taking anti-inflam. meds, all my instructed exercises and icing down the shoulder after shooting and so far so good. Granted I have only been shooting about 15 arrows a day, It is much better than before. It becomes a little fatigued after shooting but clears right up in a few hours. Im going to continue taking it easy since it's worth not dealing with the pain.
